We asked you what cliché bothered you the most. Here are some of your responses:

Bad Boy meets Good Girl. I have no idea why, but I just don't like it. But if the story revolves around the 'opposites attract' with 'bad boy and good girl' involved, I would read it. It seemed like an interesting twist for a cliché that's been overused. :3

Bad boy and beautiful nerd girl falling in love. But then some of these stories are really nicely written but most are horrible. Not that I hate cliche moments but too much Is annoying. It's almost like everyone of these stories are carbon copies of each other and have the same events in different orders.

Characters describing themselves in mirrors. It's just SOOOO lazy to do that. And it's kind of insulting to expect that the reader won't get into the story if the main character doesn't stand in front of a reflective surface and take stock of each and every feature. I do not expect to be patronized -__-

I would only accept this if the physical feature has some kind of direct link to the story or the past. I refuse to tolerate hearing about bright green eyes or deep blue eyes that have no real point. I mean, it's not that hard to work the features into the story. Maybe have someone tug at her pixie cut. Or have her contemplate her willowy build while playing soccer. Heck, give her some tragic backstory about how she hates looking into the mirror because her caramel eyes remind her too much of her dead mother. Don't waste precious characterization opportunities like that -__-

Writing "he thought to himself" instead of simply "he thought." Of course the thought was to himself.

I said. I hear it too much and there are several other adjectives that can be used.

What people seem to forget is that every story is a cliche. Nothing is original. Everything has been done before. So stop pretending as if your story is that one original because it's not.

Okay I don't know about you guys but werewolf stories are my guilty pleasure, but I swear if I read another 'Girl is bullied by all pack, finds out the alpha is her mate, her mate rejects her, she leaves, gets hot, for some stupid reason she comes back, he wants her back blah blah blah'. Don't get me wrong -some of these stories are beautiful written -but most are trashy and just copies plots.

Characters that are so perfect they either have no flaws or only very slight ones.

~ShaylaRah

The character with the tragic past, with all the world's iniquities that have happened to them in their childhood.  I believe that type of character is just a testament of sloppy writing and lack of imagination; a character doesn't have to be abused, orphaned, raped, or kidnapped for the reader to be able to sympathize with them.

Car crashes, honestly. There always has to be a car crash in a lot of books for some weird reason.

~Lightning34

Oh my god, like so many of you on here, the 'bad boy, nerd girl' is a huge pet peeve. I'm not saying all stories with the 'bad boy, nerd girl' are terrible, some are pretty good, but it still bothers me.
