Hey. It’s me, @hidden_nook. I just have this little advice column. I find embarrassing moments that people need help getting out of or scenarios for future reference. Or even where someone will encounter an awkward situation. Situation’s in bold and the help’s in the italics. Hope this helps.
I really like this guy. But I don’t know what he thinks about me. I mean, we’re kind of friends and I’ve heard rumours but I don’t know what to think! Help?
Okay, I will give you the ritual of tumblr smarts. Here’s what I saw. Do you have his number? Facebook? A way to message him? Here’s what happens. Play a small game of Twenty Questions with him. Randomly ask, “Do you like anybody?”
Chances are that he’ll get curious and ask you the same thing afterwards. When you answer, say “Yeah, you.” If you get a negative response implying that he doesn’t like you back, say “Oops. Sorry. Yeah, you?”
If he tried asking you if you liked him, now would be a good time to ask, “Would that be such a bad thing?” Personally, I haven’t tried it but if you do it, leave your results down the in the comments.
If that doesn’t work out, just use the old-fashioned, sneaky way of asking his friends who you know can trust a secret. Do you have a mutual friend? One that kind of favors you more than him but can get close enough to ask? Exploit that. E X P L O I T. Chances are if it’s not you, then your friend won’t tell you, or if he doesn’t like someone, you’ll know that that’s that.
If you have any other ways to figure out whether someone likes you, comment those please. I would love to hear your answer.
I have writer’s block and I don’t know what to do! I mean, I need to update. Sure, people don’t read what I write. But it’s the principle, you know? Anyways, ideas?
1. Get a writing schedule.
Graham Greene, a famous writer in the early and mid 1900s, wrote 500 words a day. Just 500 words. He did it everyday. I assume that he had writer’s block but he still wrote. Do that. It doesn’t matter whether you have writer’s block or not. You sit there until you write 500 words and by the time you finish, it should be gone.
2. Don’t be hard on yourself.
It’s alright. You don’t have to write so much. You only have so many ideas in your mind. Just write. Don’t think about editing. Just write whatever comes to your head. No matter how random.
3. Set goals.
Goals are good. It’s like a schedule but a tad more flexible, although you might want to keep those two hand-in-hand. Find a partner who will help you with ideas and spurs you on. Writer’s block is from lack of ideas, friends who give you ideas will help you think of new ideas. And voila, no more writer’s block.
4. Do multiple projects.
Make another short story? Start another book? Switching back and forth will get those creative juices flowing. You don’t necessarily have to post it but have it off to the side as a little project to do when you get stuck.
