- You guys have no idea how reluctant I am to post this. This is my first August Alsina book, so if the accent is off a bit, please kindly let me know so I can fix it and improve. Thank you and I hope you enjoy-

*Jaleah's POV*

"Wake up!" My older brother, Chris, yelled.

"Bruh, it's to early for you." I mumbled, putting the pillow over my head to block him out.

"Mom told me wake you up. It's time for school!" He yelled.

"You wanna die at seventeen?" I asked, glaring at him. He shook his head. "Then shut up." I told him.

"Come on, it's Monday, so you're grumpy, I know. But it doesn't mean you should threaten me. Now get up!" He said, chuckling. I rolled my eyes and sat up.

"Alright, now get out my room." I told him. He left so I could get ready.

I got up and put in my contacts. I don't feel like wearing my glasses today. I got dressed and started on my hair. I put on faded blue skinny jeans, and a tight fitting Tupac t-shirt. I left my hair naturally curly. I brushed my teeth then did my make-up. By the time I was done, it was time to go. I grabbed a bagel and a water before getting in the car with my brother. He has his license, while I only have my permit.

-Skipping to when they get to school-

I walked to my locker, with my brother staying with me. He's extremely protective. "Be good, little sister." He hugged me then went upstairs to his locker. Our school is four floors, one for each grade. I'm a freshman, so I'm not on the top floors, I'm only on the first floor.

I had difficulty opening my locker, once again. We need new lockers, I'm getting tired of this. Apparently the kid beside me is too, because he's cussing his locker out. Once I got mine opened, I decided to help him.

"You have to jiggle the lock while your pulling." I told him, sending a smile. He did what I suggested then smiled in return.

"Thank ya'." He told me. He had a fairly heavy accent.

"You must be new here." I said.

"Yeah, how ya' know?" He replied sarcastically.

"Well, have you gotten your schedule?" I asked.

"Nah, I'a find da' office in a minute. Dis' school real big." He told me.

"I can take you to the office." I told him. I like helping the new kids.

"Cool, lemme get my stuff first." He said quietly, getting his belonging set up in his locker.

I got my books while I waited for him. "Okay, let's go." I said, as he closed his locker. He chuckled.

"You a real happy person, I see dat."

"I normally am. What's life with out positivity, right?" I shrugged.

"Right." He answered.

"So, what's you're name?" I asked, looking at him.

"August. What's ya' name?"

"Jaleah Diaz."

"Das' different. I like it."

"Thanks, I like your name too."

"How far is dis' office you was talkin' 'bout?"

"It's on the top floor. We have to walk up the two flights of stairs." I assured him.

"Dis too much walking, man." He complained. I giggled a little.

"You'll get used to it." I promised.
