My alarm goes off at six, and I turn it off. August doesn't need to be up until six-thirty.

I go to my vanity, cutting the light on. I start on my make up. I go with a more natural look, like usual. Then I start my hair. I decide to leave it natural today, but do a half up half down style.

By the time I'm done, it's time to wake up August. I go over to the bed, shaking his shoulder gently. "Auggie, wake up." I kiss his cheek and his eyes open.

"Mawnin'." He yawns.

"Morning. Be careful, you have a cut in your lip." I remind him.

"I think I hurt it, you'ca make it feel betta' again?" He asks.

I laugh, placing my lips on his gently. "All better."

"Thank ya', love." He smiles.

"No problem, now you have to get up."

"Or I'ca stay layin' down and you'ca love on me some mo'." He suggests.

"Nice try, we already missed yesterday." I laugh, going to my closet.

I hear him get up from the bed and go to my bathroom. I don't know why, he has his own.

He hurries into his room to get ready after that.

"Leah!" Kyle yells from across the parking lot. He runs over to August and I, and August pulls me closer, keeping my hand in his.

"Hey Kyle." I greet with a smile.

"What's up?" He asks, then looks at August. "What's going on, bro?"

August looks around. "Ion know who you talkin' to, I ain't'cha bro."

"August, be nice." I scold.

"I'm always nice." He lies.

"Be nice to people besides me."

"I'm nice to your brothers, ain't I?" He asks.

"Be nice to Kyle." I tell him.

He doesn't say anything, so I talk to Kyle. "How's Justine?" I ask.

"She's doin' good, she got out the hospital yesterday." He smiles.

"I'll have to come by and see her. Would you guys mind if I brought August with me?" I ask. It could give August and Kyle a chance to get to know each other.

"Of course not. A friend of Leah is a friend of me. And you know my mom loves meeting our friends."

"I'll come to the house around seven." I tell him.

"See you guys then." He smiles, heading to his class while August and I head to our class.

"Leah, why-" I cut him off before he can start to fuss.

I kiss his lips a few times, then look up at him. He's fighting a smile. "Please go, for me?"

"I'a think about going, only fa' you though." He tells me.

"Thank you." I smile.

"C'mon, we gotta get to the office to get our slips." He reminds me.

"I don't have a note." I kind of freak out.

"Relax, baybeh. Tell em' you was sick." He wraps his arm tightly around me.

"Okay." I nod. You can do this, Jaleah.
