Eva's POV

Today was the day. Today was the day that I would officially be working my ass off, now I can finally prove to my mom that yes, you do have a daughter that isn't a failure.

It was 6:19 and I knew I had to get ready quickly because as we all know black people always late. I was told that I was going to be late to my own funeral (which might be true). I had already picked out my outfit for today so I had no reason to be looking through my closet for 30 minutes.

I swiftly walked to my bathroom to do my daily routine. As the shower was getting hot I pulled out my makeup pallet so that when I get out the shower, all I have to do is hair and makeup.

I Bluetooth my phone to my red beats pill and turned on spotify, quickly turning on the album This Thing Called Life by August Alsina. As I showered my music turned off signaling that I had an incoming call. I noticed it was from Aria. Not bothering to answer I turned back on my music and finished up my shower.

I put on my makeup and put my hair up in a bun and kept my sides out. As I slipped on my black thigh high boots as my phone began to ring, it was my mom. I knew she was calling me to most likely curse me out for hanging up in her face.

"Yes mommy!" I answered, hoping she would let me off the hook. "DON'T YES MOMMY ME! YO ASS HUNG UP ON ME LAST NIGHT!" she yelled, it was this moment I knew I messed up. I knew if she was in front of me I would have got slapped to Timbuktu, my momma didn't play.

"I'm sorry mom, I was having a rough day yesterday and I didn't want to talk to anyone I'm sorry mommy". I was hoping the more I called her mommy she would simmer down because right now she was livid.

"THEN YO ASS SHOULDN'T HAVE ANSWERED THE PHONE! NEXT TIME YOU DO THAT SHIT AGAIN I'MMA PUT YO ASS 6 FEET UNDER!" I messed up big time, it would take a lot of work to make her happy again.

"Sorry mom I'll make it up to you I promise.I have to go to work okay I'll call you when I get off".

"Damn right you gon make it up to me Eva!"

As I hung up the phone I checked the time. Damn it, it was 7:17 I knew I had no time to get food. I got in my All black Jeep Rubicon and drove to RCA records. Traffic was so bad here in the big apple, I was only hoping I would make it there on time.

As I parked my car in the parking lot I checked the time 7:38. I must be tripping, I had to do a double take I just knew the time did not say 7:38. True enough it read 7:38, I locked my car and ran into RCA Records I couldn't be late; and I couldn't be late on the first day.

"I'm Eva Carson, I'm here for the meeting with Bryson Tiller" I assured the lady at the front desk. The lady looked at the computer and clicked a few buttons. "Yes 8th floor the second to the last door on the right".

Without even saying thank you I ran to the nearest elevator I had to get there. I checked my phone again 7:42, the time was just not on my side. I had three minutes to get to the 8th floor and I was barely reaching the 5th floor. I was panicking like no other.

Finally I had made it to the 8th floor! As soon as the doors opened I locked eyes with Bryson, he looked so mad. All I could do was put my head down I was so embarrassed. "I'm 28 seconds early" was the only thing I could say. The way he looked at me when I said that made me regret coming. I was just trying to clear the air, you could seriously cut the tension with a knife.

As we walked into the room all eyes were on me. No one greeted me it was just pure silence. What do you do in a situation like this, wait I know; NOTHING! I just walked to the only seat that was available, the one that was at the head of the table.

"Good morning everyone I'm Eva Carson!" Silence. There was only silence, no shifting in chairs no movements of pens on paper just silence.

"We'll I'm here today to work as Bryson Tiller's assistant. I'm 20 years of age, I currently go to school online for Stanford University School Of Medicine. One day I plan to work in the lab that works to cure cancer. I have no children, and I will give it my all to make sure Bryson has the best care; and that he has all he needs to be more successful.

"Bryson has a two year old daughter, when he can't watch her you'll watch her" Neil told me. I was nervous don't get me wrong but then again I was honored. To be able to watch someone's child is a huge responsibility.

"I'm trusting you with my princess" Bryson assured me.

"I will do everything in my power to keep her safe and to keep her happy I promise".

I had so many things going through my head. I had the biggest weight on my shoulder and that was my job.

Bryson was right my life has completely changed.
