I was catching my breath as I stared up at the ceiling and Lauren lay next to me watching me intently.
"Do you regret it?" Lauren asked and I closed my eyes briefly.
"No," I said opening my eyes and then turning my head to look at her.
"I just thought—
"Lauren, I don't regret it. I actually kind of missed it," I said.
"Really?" Lauren asked in disbelief.
"I'm not sure why you're so shocked," I said.
"I never really know with you anymore," Lauren said.
"Oh you're so romantic," I said sarcastically getting out of Lauren's bed.
"Where are you going?" Lauren asked.
"Well there is a party out there that we both need to get back to," I said.
"They can wait a bit longer for us," Lauren said sitting up and wrapping her arms around my waist from behind.
"As tempting as that sounds...we both need to get back out there," I said.
"You're no fun," Lauren whispered into my ear and then kissed me on the side of my head.
"I get that a lot," I chuckled and then Lauren let go of me and I started to get dressed.
There was a knock on the door and then I heard Sam whispering.
"You two better be done in there because we're about to eat," Sam said.
I rolled my eyes and opened the door. "Why are you whispering?" I asked.
"I didn't want anyone to overhear me," Sam said.
"Trust me if someone really wanted to hear what you said then they would," Lauren said fixing her clothes after she put them on.
"It literally smells like sex in here," Sam said scrunching up her nose.
"Oh shit, I knew I forgot something" Lauren said and then disappeared into her bathroom and came back out with a bottle of Febreeze and started to spray her room.
I started to cough when she sprayed too much. "Don't use the entire bottle," I said in between coughs.
"I shouldn't have said anything," Sam said fanning the air.
Lauren stopped spraying and then returned to her bathroom and then reappeared. "It's not even that bad," Lauren said.
"Whatever you say," Sam said.
"I'm going to go see if Ally needs help setting up the dining room," Lauren said and then kissed me on the cheek before leaving Sam and I.
Sam looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "What the hell was that?" Sam asked.
I sighed. "A more complicated mess," I said.
"So you two had sex and neither of you talked about the consequences of doing that," Sam said.
"There are no consequences to what we did. I'm just so tired of this resisting and trying to make up my mind when deep down I know what I truly want, but I keep stalling in hopes that it will all change" I said.
"I don't follow," Sam said.
"A heart can only love for so long before it becomes tired," I said.
"That's so poetic of you," Sam said.
"I wasn't trying to be poetic, I was speaking the truth" I said.
"What happens when you're deployed again and everyone is forced to go through what they did before? Did you even think about that Y/N?" Sam asked.
