It was kinda cold out now and I was shivering. "You cold?" Dally asked. I nodded and next thing I knew there was a leather jacket being thrown around me. "Thanks." I smiled. "Don't mention it!" He smiled back, throwing his cigarette butt away. "So, what's it like living here on the East side with us greasers?" He asked. "What is a greaser? I met this guy today, and he called me a grease... What's it mean?" I looked up at him and he laughed. "It means that we're poor and have run down cars and live in shitty houses and slick out hair back with grease and stuff like that... Them kids on the west side, the Socs, you watch your ass for them." He shook his head. "What was the name of the guy you said called you a grease?" Dally said sternly. "He said it was Bob, there were two other guys with him but I don't know their names." I smiled at him. He nodded. "Bob's a Soc no doubt." He shook his head. "Goddamn, you've only been here a day and them Socs are bothering you." He ran his hand through his hair and looked at me. My heart started racing everytime he looked at me.
We walked up to my porch and I unlocked the door. "You can come in if you want." I smiled back at Dally. He nodded and we went inside. I started walking up to my bedroom an he followed. I sat down on my bed and he just stood there. "You can sit down if you want too!" I laughed. He grinned and laid down on the bed next to me. "So, tell me about yourself." I smiled and add myself comfortable. He shrugged. "I don't have anything to tell." He looked at me. I frowned. "It could be anything, like how old are you, what's your favorite color, your favorite place to go, something that happened in the past, literally anything to make conversation." I giggled. He smirked and sat up. "Alright then, so I'm almost eighteen, blacks a nice color I guess, I like going to the Nightly-Double actually, ya know with Ponyboy and Johnny, Johnny's a good kid, real tough. The toughest outta all the gang. He got beat up by a couple of Socs a while back and it changed him. He was hurt real bad, but we were there for him and he got through." Dal started rambling on and I paid attention.
We talked for another hour just small talk about our interests and things, but I wanted to find out about the real Dally. "Who are you Dallas Winston?" I looked into his eyes and he made a weird face. "Whatta mean?" He asked. "You don't gotta act all tough for me, I'm a girl! Open up, show me the real Dallas Winston!" I smiled and he smiled. He shook his head. "I'm a lost soul." He sat up. I nodded. "Same here!" I pulled up my sleeve and revealed my scars and cuts. Dally's eyes got big. "Why would you do that to yourself huh?" He said softly. I looked at him and sighed. "An escape." I said looking at them. "Alright Jana, I'm gonna be honest with you right now, I may seem like a dick, or a badass or anything like that, you're gonna hear all these bad things about me, stealing and fights and jail, that ain't the real me! Like I know what you're feeling! I've been waiting and waiting and waiting to find someone like me. Just to open up to and actually be myself around instead of being a badass, I think I've found them.. I'll be here for you only if you promise to be here for me!" He grabbed my hand and looked into my eyes. I nodded and smiled. "Hello Dallas." I giggled. "Hi." He laughed and we laid there in silence for a couple minutes.
He sat up all of a sudden. "You're 16 right?" He asked and I nodded. "Perfect!" He smirked and I laughed. He looked at the clock on my wall. "I should get goin'." He stood up. "Where do you live?" I asked him. "My friend Buck's, it's a bar but there's an apartment that him and I share, you should come by sometime!" He smiled. "Will do!" I smiled back and walked downstairs with him.
We got to the kitchen and he grabbed the doorknob but the Ed around before going outside. "Listen, don't tell any of the guys I actually opened up, they keep trying to get me to but it ain't happening, I'm making a real risky decision to trust you, so yea." He smiled. I giggled. "The real Dallas Winston is safe here with me Dal, don't worry bout' that!" I smiled. "You're a doll! Thank you, and hey, don't fucking hurt yourself again! I'll cry!" He laughed. I blushed. He opened the door. "Goodnight Dallas!" I smiled and stood on the porch. "Goodnight gorgeous!" He smiled and walked down the driveway. I shut the door and squealed in excitement. He was so amazing! Nothing like Sodapop had said! He totally opened up.
I took a bath and then went to bed, barely able to sleep because Dallas was on my mind the whole night and I couldn't stop smiling.
