"I cannot believe he asked you out on a date like that's adorable and he never does anything like that whatsoever and I can't believe you said yes and I'm just so-"
"Meghan, shut up," I say, opening my locker. "He asked me to be his homecoming date. We already agreed that nothing is going to happen. Cool down."
Homecoming is tonight. As in Monday night. And we only have two full days of school since this week is Christmas... And my birthday. "Abs, do you like him?"
"What kind of question is that?" I say just as Noah comes in between the two of us.
"Eight o'clock," he winks to me, taking out a book and walking away. I smile not because of him but because he's actually trying in school. He just took a textbook out, he has to be trying.
"You two would make a cute couple," Meghan says. I roll my eyes as I shut my locker.
"Come on, let's go home and get ready."

I decided on not getting my hair and makeup professionally done because I'll save that for prom. I have a long dress and it's a light lavender color. I've already curled my hair and done my makeup so it was just my dad taking picture of me," you look so pretty sweetheart."
I smile," thanks dad."
"I can't believe I'm letting you go with that kid," he scoffs.
"Dad, he asked me and he was nervous. He's never nervous. Have faith in him."
There was a knock on the front door. Who knocks in this century? There's something called a doorbell you know? And all you have to do is press it. My heels click on the hardwood floor as I open the door. Noah was in a black and white tuxedo as he's holding my corsage.
"Abby, you... You look... Beautiful," Noah nervously says. My lips curve into a smile as he said that. My dad was standing in front of us, taking pictures as he put on my corsage. I take the lavender flower off the coffee table and place it inside his chest pocket.
"You two behave yourselves," dad says as we walk out the door. "Especially you Noah."
When we reach his Audi, I wait at my door as he's at the driver's side already," you're supposed to be a gentleman and open the door for me."
He glares at me before running over and opening the door," here you go your highness."
When I get in the car, it reeks of beer and cologne. He could've at least cleaned the inside of his car," so when's the next time you're going to clean this thing?"
He laughs," whenever I feel like it. Buckle up."
"What if I don't feel like it," I pretend pout, crossing my arms. He catches on and shakes his head, reaching over and pulling the seat belt across me. "I was just kidding. I was going to put it on."
"I know but ... Never mind," he says, shaking it off. Well okay then. I look out the window the whole time we're driving but it's a comfortable silence. I tend to catch him talking to himself at times but I shrug it off.
By the time we're there, music is blasting from the gymnasium and you can hear it from the parking lot. Once Noah parked, he caught on and opened my door for me, giving me a hand," thank you."
"My pleasure," he grins. We both walk in together but we're not holding hands or anything. "Watch your step."
It was too late before I trip over someone's pair of sneakers in the middle of the hallway," be careful," he says. Well it's not my fault that people just leave whatever they want lying around.
