A few weeks later
Did you hear about the great news? Basketball extraordinaire Noah Evans recently got married! Reporters say him and his new wife, Brooke, eloped and spent their honeymoon relaxing at their own home. Couldn't get any cuter than this.
"No. Way" Meghan says with her mouth wide open. I continue eating the popcorn we made. "Did you know about this?"
"No," I say quietly, trying to hide my feelings. When Noah and I broke up, I wasn't expecting him to elope... Especially with Brooke. Of all people, he chooses her.
"What the fuck?! He can't just do that to you, it's literally common sense. What the heck is wrong with that kid? Does he know how much-"
"Meg, shut up," I say. "It doesn't even matter, I'm the one that broke it off. He's free to do whatever he wants, its not like I own him."
Meg sighs," well I'm glad you're not upset. Because you most certainly do not need a guy in your life to make you happy. You're gorgeous and smart and wonderful and-"
"Meghan," I warn as she smiles making me smile. "I know you love me but I know I don't need a guy. They're wasting my time anyways. We're going to march our asses into prom in a few days and make it a night we'll never forget."
"Amen," Meg laughs.
Noah's POV
"Good morning hubby," a voice coos as a person twirls my hair as we lay in bed.
Once I noticed who the voice was, I immediately jumped out of bed," Brooke? Why-why are you in my bed? And why is there a ring on my ring finger? Why'd you call me hubby? What the fuck happened?!"
She smirks," don't you remember babe? We got married over night because we're crazy for each other."
"You're just crazy," I say, searching around for clothes. "How the fuck are we married? I don't remember shit."
"That's because I drugged your water," Brooke says as I glare at her. "You refused to get drunk with me, which ruined my plans so I drugged your plain ass water. And I used your credit card, which has loads of money, to buy this gorgeous ring."
Her ring had a huge diamond on the center. I don't even want to know the price. I have bigger issues, we can't be married!
"Come on, we're getting a divorce," I state, sliding my shoes on. She's still in bed naked.
"Why are you so grouchy hubby?" Brooke says in such an annoying voice.
"Because you fucking drugged me and married me! Who the fuck does that?!" I yell.
"Someone who loves you."
I roll my eyes," I don't love you."
She groans," well who do you love? Its sure not Abby because I know you two broke up and that shit was messy as fuck."
"... Thats where you're wrong," I say, reminiscing the day we broke up. "It wasn't messy, its just she always makes me nervous so I never know what to say. Girls never make me nervous. You're wrong when you say I don't love her because I do. She's the only person I truly love and I always will no matter what... So get your ass off my bed and into the car in ten minutes. I'm leaving with or without you."
Suddenly, the doorbell rings. Who the heck is it now?
I rush down the stairs. I swear if its a news reporter, I'm going to punch them right in the-
"Heyyyyyyy Abby," I say, keeping the door slightly closed so she doesn't see Brooke when she comes downstairs. Oh fuck. Is Abby going to be hurt? The last thing I want to do is hurt this girl. What if she goes home crying? I can't bare to know that.
"I just wanted to say congrats," she says, handing me a bag. "It's a wedding present. I hope you two enjoy the rest of your lives together-"
I grab her wrist and pull her into my car. I don't need anyone hearing this until I fix this.
"We're not married, okay? She drugged me and used my money to buy herself a ring. I swear I took no part in this and I'm going to file a divorce right now," I explain as she laughs. Why is she laughing? Girls creepy laughs are never good.
"You don't need to lie Noah," she says... What? "I know you don't want to hurt me but I'm perfectly fine with you talking about my wedding. I wish you two the best."
She's about to leave the car but I hold onto her," look me in the eyes and tell me you think this marriage is real."
She stares at me but looks away," I don't know if your marriage is real. That's between the two of you. This isn't my business... How's your... You know?"
We're talking about this shitty situation and all she wants to talk about is my gun wound? What the heck?
"Um," I say, lifting up my shirt so she can see it. "It's getting better everyday."
She's staring at it like a dead body while I'm staring at her. She's still hurt about this, I know it. I know she's going to keep blaming herself for this. She's fragile.
"Uh, I should get going," she says, snapping herself back to reality.
"What're you doing today?" I ask.
"I'm shopping for prom and stuff," she answers as I nod.
"You're going to the mall by yourself?" I ask.
She smiles. Damn I miss that so much. "Yeah, I've been working on my anxiety for quite some time. I've improved and my therapists are very happy."
I smile," I'm proud of you. But if something happens-"
"I'll call my dad, k bye," she says, getting out of my car. I lean back and take a deep breath. There goes the girl I love.
"Hey boo," Brooke says, getting in.
And here is the girl I hate.
