Abby's POV
"He was at the party Abby... Again! That makes thirteen frat parties in just two weeks!" Meg complains over the phone. Working for Ned has been rough but it's pretty fun. I'm in a serious competition with this girl that works here and I'm so winning her new mini-fridge. "This is Noah we're talking about. How are you not listening?"
"Why should I talk about a guy that cheated on me?" I ask as she remains silent. "I don't care what he does Meg. I have a new life and this could be my future."
"You're not even in your twenties so stop talking like one," she says as I roll my eyes. "Don't throw this relationship away. You and Noah are endgame. I know it is. I've never seen that much love in-"
"Excuse me as I barf," I laugh. "But I'm working here so it'll be nice if-"
"It's 12:30, you're on your lunch break," she states as I groan.
"Ms Rose, you have a visitor," a worker says peeping through the door.
I get up and take the phone with me," did you hear that?" I ask Meg as I walk outside. "I'm an assistant and even I have an assistant. Plus, I have visitors. How cool- Are you serious?"
I stop talking once I see Noah standing in the waiting room. I hang up the phone before crossing my arms.
"You look nice for someone who's been out all night partying and hooking up with girls," I say. He was dressed like a typical, but hot, office guy. Does he have a job interview or something? Who would hire him?
"And you look hot," he says, smirking. "I came here to have lunch with you."
I look at the clock," you have ten minutes before I have to go read for children... Ned was going to do it but I'm not letting him anywhere near kids until he learns how to not make them with strangers."
He nods before following me back to my office. He places a picnic basket on the meeting table and sets everything up. He's been a sneaky little kid. I know this move.
"I have heart shaped sandwiches with turkey and lettuce. Pretzels with a side of almond butter. And juice boxes because you think juice pouches are gross," he explains, pulling a chair out for me. "And I know I could be a professional person and take you out for lunch and drink some wine but... We're kids."
I smile before taking a seat," smooth move Evans."
"And I really want you to know that I have not had sex with anyone since we broke up. And I haven't smoked or anything like that... I may have drank a bit but I'm Noah. Cut me some slack," he explains as I laugh. "But I did kiss a girl which kind of ignited this whole thing. And I know you won't forgive me but I'm hoping this is a start."
I sigh," of course I forgive you Noah but I have to tell you something that's not exactly good news."
"Oh no. Your dad passed away didn't he? Did Gavin pass too? Oh my god," he gasps before whispering," are you pregnant?"
"Men," I mutter. "I'm not pregnant and no one died. That night when you kissed... Whoever she was, Ned took me home and we kind of..."
I didn't have to finish before his whole face changed.
"Oh."
"But nothing is going on between us," I quickly add in. "I promise you nothing like that will ever happen again."
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" he angrily asks.
"Sort of?" I shrug.
He shakes his head before getting up and leaving. He comes back after a few seconds though," for once in my lifetime, I don't want to see you, Abigail Rose."
