Chapter 52

The ride to the hospital was quiet and a little awkward. Neither of us knew what to say. When we finally got there though, we quickly checked in and waited for my name to be called. The entire time we are waiting, I am praying in my head that Sue or my Dad don't see us. I don't want to face them yet, "Miss. Swan." a nurse calls out, and I am happy that it wasn't Sue. I grab Seth's hand and we walk back into one of the rooms. She does to usual things, blood pressure, heart rate, lungs, temperature, height, weight, all of it, "Okay, sit up here on the bed and the doctor will be in to see you shortly." She gives us a small smile before leaving.

"Remember, I am here for you know matter what the results are." Seth say's, giving me a small smile and squeezing my hand slightly.

"Thanks." I take a deep breath as we wait for the doctor.

"Knock knock. I'm Dr. Miller. What brings you here today?" She asks. I'm glad that it's a girl, hopefully it will be a little less awkward, "I see here that you came for a pregnancy test, is that correct?"

"Yeah." I say, not able to find my breath for some reason.

"Well, I will just go and grab a nurse and we will take a blood test. Give me one second." I nod my head and let out the breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Babe, you need to breath." Seth say's while rubbing my back. Outside I hear the doctor talking to some one.

"Why does this chart have my son's name on it?" Oh dear lord. I know that voice. It's Sue. I look over at Seth and his eyes are as wide as saucers, "Seth, Maya? What are you guys doing here? Are you two alright?" Sue asks walking into the room. Neither of us knew what to say. What do you say to your boyfriends mother while you are waiting to have a pregnancy test done anyway? She looks over the chart quickly and before she looks back up her eye's widen a little, "You are here for a pregnancy test!" She exclaims. I don't know what to say. I am pretty sure that she's upset, so I just nod my head, "Once you are done here I want to talk to you both at home. I will be waiting in the hall." I nod my head again and another nurse comes in to take blood.

We decided to wait here for the results because I didn't want to go home and get yelled at by Sue right now. About half an hour after the test went to the lab, Dr. Miller come's back in, "I have the results right here. Maya, you are pregnant. About a little less than a month by the looks of things. You will need to call and schedule an appointment as soon as possible okay?" I just nod my head, "Well, goodbye and see you soon." Seth helps me down off the bed, and helps me to walk. I don't think I would be able to if he didn't help. Like she said, Sue was waiting in the hallway for us. She followed us outside and climbed into her truck, while we go in mine.

Just like on the way to the hospital, it was quiet. I was still processing the fact that in about nine months, I am going to be a mother. Seth is going to be a father. He pulls into the driveway and we get out. Both of us follow Sue into the house, "Sit." She commands while pointing to the couch. We do as we are told, "Sixteen years old. You are both only sixteen years old and already you are pregnant! Maya, you JUST turned sixteen. Do you really think that you are ready for a baby? What about you Seth? You have a lot of responsibilities, between the pack and school. You are juniors in high school. What were you guys thinking? Did you both decide, 'oh, lets get pregnant and see what our parents would say?'"

We shale our heads, "Did you guys think, even for a second, that you would be ready to be parent's at such a young age? Maya, what is your father going to say when he finds out? He is going to be furious! I know that I was talking about how I wanted grandchildren, but I didn't think that you would take it so seriously and actually get pregnant!"

"Sue, I got pregnant before you even talked to me about that." I finally say.

"Mom. It wasn't a planned thing. We just got caught up in the moment and forgot to use something. We weren't even thinking about it." Seth say's.

"That's the problem, you weren't thinking! Now, I don't want you guys to think that I'm not happy for you, because I am. I am just surprised that you are pregnant at sixteen! I want you to know that I am going to support you, and help you through this okay?" We nod our heads, "Okay. Now that that part is out of the way, have you guys decided what you are going to do? I know how you feel about abortion Maya so I know that's out of the question."

"I don't know about Seth, but I can't live my life knowing that I have a child out there somewhere. I want to keep this baby."

"Like I said, I will support you. I also said that I am excited to be a father. It may take some time, but you will get there too." Seth puts an arm around my shoulder and kisses the side of my head.

"Okay, now that we have that settled, I think we should tell your father." She say's to me.

"He's going to kill your son, you do realize this." I ask her.

"He's not going to kill anyone. I am going to call him okay?" I just nod my head and wait. Apparently dad didn't have to work today, so he came right on over.

"Hello, what's going on, Sue said that it's important." Dad say's walking through the door. I am pacing back and forth and Seth is trying to get my to stop because he is getting dizzy.

"I think you should sit down for this dad." I say. Here goes nothing.
