Bella's Younger Sister

Chapter 13

Seth and I were dropped off at the house, because Sue had to go to work. She is a nurse at the hospital. I guess we could have waited until her shift started. Harry went fishing with Billy and Old Quil, so that just leaves Leah, Seth and I. "Seth, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"Why does your sister hate me?" I ask him. He stops looking through the fridge to look at me. He walks over, leans over the counter and stares at me. If this was anyone else, I would freak out and punch him, but I didn't for two reasons. One, It's Seth and he was like this even as a kid, so I am used to it. Two, I didn't feel like making another trip to the hospital.

"She doesn't hate you. She is jealous of you." I laugh. I seriously doubt that Leah Clearwater is jealous of me. "Okay, that was not a total lie, but she felt left out as a kid because you were always hanging out with the guys. She never really had a friend that was a girl. Except for Emily, but that went down hill with the whole Sam thing."

"What 'whole Sam thing?'" I ask. I didn't even know that they were even an item.

"Well, they dated for a long time. Then one day, our cousin Emily came down to visit us and Sam dumped her for Emily. At first she said no, but then they got together. They are even engaged now."

"Wow. Poor Leah. Why would Sam do that though?"

"Who knows. I don't really care. I just want Leah to get over him and move on. So don't take it personally if she acts pissed at you. She is still getting over Sam. Plus the whole you left her out as a kid thing." I seriously feel like complete shit now. If I had known that she felt that way, I would have hung out with her more. I mean, she is a few years older than me, like 3, but I would have still included her. "Don't worry about it Maya. How about we go watch some movies?" He asks.

"Okay, where are we going to watch them?"

"In the basement. We have a whole in home movie theater set up down there for our friends." He says and grabs my hand. I felt sparks fly up through my body and I blushed. That's not like me though. I don't ever blush. We go to the basement and I see the best thing in the world! I have never seen something so cool.

"Sweet! When did you guys put this in?"

"Last Summer. Dad thought that Leah and I were getting old enough to have our own place in the house for when we brought our friends over." He shrugs, as if it's no big deal, "I am the only one who ever brings anyone down here though. Leah barely ever leaves the house anymore."

I didn't know what to say so I just walked over and picked a movie off of the shelf. I didn't tell Seth because it's a surprise. "Let's go and make some snacks!" We run back up stairs and make pop corn, and raid the candy cupboard. We each grab three boxes of candy and a few cans of Soda. "Should we invite Quil over?"

""If you want to. I don't really mind if he comes over."

"Do you have his number?" He laughs and takes out his phone.

To: Quil

From: Seth

Hey Quil, it's Maya. Seth and I are watching movies. You want to come over and hang out with us?

To: Seth

From: Quil

Is Jake over there?

To: Quil

From: Seth

No, why?

To: Seth

From: Quil

Just wondering. I will be over in a few. Don't stat without me!

I didn't reply back, instead we went and got more snacks. I went upstairs and asked Leah if she wanted to join us, she didn't answer me, so I went back to the basement. Seth and I didn't have to wait that long because Quil showed up within 5 minutes.

"Hey, thanks for waiting."

"No problem." I turn on the movie and the guy's groan. I don't understand why. I mean, Finding Nemo is a classic. At least, it is to me. We watch movies for a few hours before Quil had to go home, and Sue called us for dinner. I wasn't to hungry so I respectfully declined. I did sit at the table with them though.

"So, what did you kids do today?"

"We just watched movies in the basement." I said.

"There better not be a mess when I go down there later." Seth and I just look at each other before we excuse ourselves to go to the basement. It took all of 7 minutes to pick everything up, and put the movies back in their cases. We got back upstairs and I helped to clear the table. "Maya, you don't have to help, you are a guest." Harry say's.

"I want to. Besides, you guys treat me like a child. I have to help out a little." I say. I clear the table, and Seth and I took care of dinner. Seth washed the dishes, since I can't get my cast wet, and I dried and put them away. Seth and I head up to his room, which is still a little messy, and I watch him play video games. I try to play a few rounds, and I am actually better now, than I am when I have full function of my left hand. At about ten I go into the bathroom across the hall and change into a pair of pajamas and take my medicine. I plug in my phone and lay down. I say goodnight to Seth and just as I am about to fall sleep, there is a dip on the other side of the bed, then Seth drapes an arm over my side. I smile and fall into a dreamless sleep.
