Ten Days Earlier

"You sent for me?" Clarke asked as she entered my tent.

"Yes," I nodded, "Octavia has nothing to fear from me." I stood there in silence for a few moments before continuing. "I do trust you, Clarke."

I looked away, but could tell she took several steps closer to me, shortening the distance between us. "I know how hard that is for you," she whispered. I look back up at her, waiting for her to continue, but I could immediately tell that she was referring to something else.

I turn to her, "You think our ways are harsh. . .but that's how we survive."

She frowns. "Maybe life should be about more than just surviving," she whispers quietly. "Don't we deserve better than that?" Clarke turned away from me, not meeting my eyes. Although, I wasn't exactly looking at her eyes either.

Her lips looked so soft, supple, even. I tried not to gaze upon them, but I just could not help myself. "Maybe we do," I whispered, barley audible. She finally looked back up at me as I said that, and I quickly took the opportunity that I was playing out in my head over and over, to pull her face to mine and kiss her. To my surprise, she did not pull away. Clarke kissed me back, all full of meaning and lust. But to my dismay, it was cut short, too short for my liking, when she pulled back from me.

"I'm sorry, I. . . I'm not ready to be with anyone. Not yet," Clarke whispered. I glanced back down to her lips, and then up to her eyes, knowing full well what that was like. I understood what she meant and I respected her for it. I nodded, but couldn't help but notice how she glanced back down to my lips, and that made me smile, a small smile, but a smile none the less.

"The signal!" Someone yelled from outside my tent. I looked at Clarke, my mask back on, as we rushed out the door.

"Bellamy did it," Clarke said with a grin on her face, looking to the flare up in the sky.

I sighed, "You were right to have faith in him." She turned to me, and I finished, "Now we fight." I smiled as I ran to the cliff where below, my warriors were waiting. I looked over to a couple of my men and told them to blow the horns to signal war. "Gon war!" I yelled in my Triegdasleng tongue. And to war it would be.

Present Day

"Indra," I yelled as I approached her tent, "Come out here immediately. It is urgent."

She ran out of her tent, bowing her head in greeting and saying, "Yes Heda," in my presence.

"The Ice Nation's leader is coming for a visit, prepare soldiers for her arrival. If we must have to call for war, that is what we will do. I hope it does not come to that."

"But Heda," I gave her a look as to say not to question me. She backed down immediately.

"Oh, and I need a couple of horses and some soldiers to accompany me to the Skaikru's camp. I need to inform Clarke and her people of the Ice Nation's early arrival."

"Commander, I advise you to wait until morning, it is not safe, the sun is already setting." Indra says.

I shake my head. "No, by then, the Ice Nation will be here. I must go tonight. Now go get me the things I've asked for." She nods and walks away, clearly angered by my judgement, although she is smart to not argue further. I turn around and walk back to my tent to get my swords and daggers.

We approach the Sky People's camp when nightfall finally sets in. We would not be leaving until early morning. "Open the gates!" One of their guards yell. I dismount my horse, and enter their camp. My guards follow suit.

"I must talk to Clarke and your Chancellor," I tell one of them. I am then taken to a room where I wait for them to return. Clarke walks in first, and as she sees me, she smiles.

"Lexa," she breathes. She walks over to me, I stand and kiss her cheek. She backs away as her mother walks into the room. No one knows about Clarke and I's relationship, so I understand why she backs away.

"Commander," Abby nods. "What reason do you give us for visiting at this hour?"

I sigh, "Clarke, when I told you that there was to be a meeting discussing war, I told you that we had three days."

She narrows her eyes at me. "And you bring this up. . .why?"

"Because now we have one day until the Ice Nation's queen shows up. I argue we have until tomorrow afternoon until we have to make our point, on whether or not we declare war on the Ice Nation."

"What does this have to do with us?" Abby asks, looking at me.

"Because, if you do not help, your camp, your people, will most likely be in the crossfire of this war. The Ice Nation is ruthless, they will take out whatever is in their path." Abby nodds once again and looks to Clarke.

"Well," Clarke starts, "what do we do?"

"I need you to come back to Tondisi in the morning, you are now needed for this meeting. If you are willing to partake in this war, that is."

"Yes, I'll do anything to help." Clarke says, her voice full of confidence.

I nod, "It is settled then. We ride back at dawn. Be ready to go." We all stand up and exit the meeting room.
