Four Days Earlier
Laughing at something Raven said, she and Octavia walk with me to the meeting room where my mother awaits. When we walk in, I see her leaning on the table talking to Kane. When she sees us, she stops what she's doing and stands up to look at me. "Clarke," she says. I roll my eyes.
"Hi mom." She rushes over to me and engulfs me in a hug. "Mom. Can't. Breath."
"Oh," she says quickly, "I'm sorry. I'm just so glad to see you. It's been weeks! Where have you been?" She raises her voice.
I sigh, "Here and there. I was staying in Tondisi for a while, but then left and wandered the plains. Eventually, I got bored and came back. But I did learn how to speak Trigedasleng which-"
"Clarke! Do you know how worried I was? You didn't leave a note, you only tell Bellamy that you're leaving, but not a specific place. Do you understand what could've happened to you? I had search parties looking for you every day!"
I just look at her, "Well I'm here now, aren't I? I'm fine. And I know you had search parties looking for me, I didn't want to be found. I needed time to myself; time to think. Like yesterday when you had Octavia and some other people in Tondisi asking Indra where I was. Yep, I was there. I didn't want to be found. I'm fine. So stop worrying about me."
I walk out of the room angry, although I know I shouldn't be. She's my mom, she's got every reason to be mad at me for not telling her where I was going. But I also have every right to be mad at her. She sent me and the hundred down here. She didn't know if we would make it or not, but she did it anyway. Basically sending us to die.
I told Lexa that I would be back in two days, but I think I might go back early depending on how things go over with my mom.
Present Day
I wake up again sometime later, although I'm not sure how long I was out this time. I look around the room, no one is in here. I struggle to get the binds off of my hands, but it's no use. Whatever they used is strong and knotted well. A thought then came to my head. How could I have forgotten? Where's Octavia? What if they killed her already? I can't even think straight right now. I try to loosen up the ties on my hands again, this time though, I am successful and get one hand out.
Untying my other hand, I manage to get free of the ropes. I get up and look around the room for something that could help me protect myself against these people if they come back. There is nothing, but I manage to hide myself inside a small compartment (which I thought would be too small, but it's not!) off to the side. I do this just in time, too. The men come back, angrier than ever now that they find me gone.
"Damn it!" One of them yells, and kicks something over.
"Titus, I thought you said she wouldn't get away," The other man says, his voice shaking. Adrenaline rushes through my veins as I attempt to calm my breathing.
"She shouldn't have been able to! Go, now. Find her and make sure she doesn't get anywhere near the Commander's quarters. Unless you want your head detached from your shoulders," Titus growls.
Wait a minute, I think, the Commander's quarters? That has to mean I'm in Polis. That has to mean that if I get out of here, Lexa shouldn't be too far behind. I stay where I am for a little bit longer, trying to figure out what to do. I open the door to the compartment I'm in a little bit to see if the man, Titus, is still there. He is. I watch him for a moment. He's got his head in his hands, whispering something to himself. And then all of a sudden, "Titus, Heda is here and she demands to speak with you immediately." Titus looks up and nods at the person at the door.
"I'm coming." He stands and composes himself before getting up and exiting the room. As soon as he's gone, I get out of the tiny space I'd managed to cram my body into. "She's here," I whisper, smiling. Lexa either came looking for me, or she's just checking up on things here. Whatever the reason, I need to find her, and it has to be extremely soon.
This chapter (or rather the flashback part) somewhat reflects my life. I didn't try to make it that way, it just happened. Oh well. Hope you enjoy it.
