Ava was lonely. She knew that. She was never one to talk to people, or make friends quickly. She's worked hard for the one friend she has, Calum. He was a nice guy, kept to himself most of the time, nothing she was new to.

Ava sat at the top of her apartment building that night, just like any other night. But she couldn't get that boy out of her head. Nobody, especially a guy, has ever made that much effort to talk to her. I mean, she was just Ava. 5'9, brunette haired, music loving Ava. There was nothing special about her. She lived alone and spent most of her nights getting high or drunk.

The wind blew her hair in her face, ticking her off. But, she still didn't move. She sat at the edge of her building, legs dangling over the edge. She considered jumping, falling to the ground to end all the pain.

"I could just jump," she whispered to herself. "I could just end it all right now." She shook her head and tugged at the bottom of her muscle tee.

"Are you gonna jump?" A voice spoke up from behind her. She gasped and turned her body around, and there stood the blonde haired boy from earlier, not even two feet away from her. He stood there in the tightest black skinny jeans she had ever seen, with a black leather jacket covering his broad shoulders. His hair was styled down, the complete opposite of what it looked like earlier. A black beanie sat at the top of his head, blonde hair spilling out from underneath it.

"W-what?" She asked, totally forgetting his question. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and stood up straighter.

"Do you plan on jumping?" He asked again, raising his eyebrows. The question caught her off guard, making her sniffle slightly.

"No," she whispered to herself. She hoped she convinced the boy, she hoped she convinced herself that she wasn't planning to jump. If she were to do that, it would create other work for other people. They would have to move things out of her apartment, creating racket that no one wanted to hear. Even doing the smallest thing like jumping off the roof would still create ruckus that wasn't necessary.

"Bullshit," he said, swinging his legs over the edge and took a seat next to her. She was shocked at what was happening, but looked back out at the city. He didn't even try to hide his gaze on her, it was obvious that she knew he was staring at her.

"What's your name?" He asked, fixing his beanie while placing his hands on the cement next to his thighs.

She shook her head. "Doesn't matter."

He glanced at her, studying her facial expressions as the lights lit up her face. He just couldn't stop looking at her, she was so god damn beautiful. Her dark brown chocolate hair that came down to about mid back framed her small face nicely. She had brown eyes, that looked dull but held secrets in them. Secrets of the past, and present.

"Yes it does," he argued.

"No it doesn't! It won't matter what I tell you. Sara, Megan, Lilly. It won't matter what name I say because in the end, we'll both go back to our normal lives and forget that this even happened!" She spat at him, hands flying in the air. He kept his gaze on her, while taking his lip in between his teeth as he thought of what to say.

"It does matter. I want to know your name so I can call you that today, tomorrow, and the next day. So, what's your name?" He breathed out.

She sat there, tears brimming her eyes as she let out a shaky breath. "Ava. My name, is Ava."

Luke smiled as he turned so one leg was still dangling off the roof, but the other was back onto the building.

"See, that wasn't so hard. I'm Luke. Luke Hemmings," he smiled softly as he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. She glanced at him and internally screamed. God, what was she doing? She hasn't spoken to a boy other than Calum in two years. She nodded at him, keeping her eyes on the tall building off in the distance with lights flickering all over.

He didn't know why he decided that specific night to go onto the roof of his building. Maybe it was because his parents had told him there were to be a full moon that night, or maybe to clear his head. But either way, he was glad he did.
