"Alright, before we go in, you might wanna know a little bit about them." Luke started. Ava nodded her head slowly, confused. She looked down at her dirty sneakers Calum had gotten her for her birthday and continued listening.
"So Michael, he's the one with blue hair. He's uh, how do I put this.. very dirty minded? Yeah, so don't like, freak out or anything." She just laughed. A genuine laugh. The noise surprised her for a moment until she coughed, covering it up, hoping Luke didn't hear.
He did.
"Okay, next. Calum isn't Asian so don't ask, he's very sensitive on that topic," Ava furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Calum? Luke was friends with Calum? She instantly started sweating and thinking about all the things he's probably told him. All the things they've done.
Her leg started bouncing up and down, nervousness overcoming her. She didn't like people knowing about her past.
"He likes video games and music so, im sure you guys can bond over that.."
He licked his lips. He grabbed the steering wheel and continued.
"Okay, last is Ashton. He's basically the 'daddy' of the group. You shouldn't have a problem with him. It's mainly Michael and Calum. I should probably get some new friends.." He trailed off while looking out the window. He scratched his chin, his jaw extending into a sharp line. He hasn't shaved in a couple days, and his stumble was showing.
"Alright, come on. Don't want to keep them waiting," Luke said. He opened his door and jumped out and ran over to her side to open the door. She felt a yes it in her stomach, but ignored it. She decided to leave her backpack in the car, because they'd be leaving in an hour or so.
She stepped out of the car and took Lukes hand that was extended out to her. He smiled and bit his lip ring, and interlocked their fingers. He looked away, but Ava could tell he was smiling. Luke lead them up to the apartment building and knocked on the door. The door opened to reveal Calum with a big smile on his face.
It instantly changed into a confused one.
"Ave?"
Luke looked between them with confusion spread all over his face. His hand touched his forhead, pushing his flat hair to the side. "You two know each other?"
"Yeah.. we-"
"We work together." Ave cut him off. She looked at him and her eyes widened for a split second before returning to there normal size. Calum got the hint.
"Yeah. For awhile now. Nice to see you." Calum said, putting a smile on his face, while opening the door wider. Ave walked in first, taking her jacket off in the process. Luke walked in and grabbed Calum's arm, pulling him back from walking away.
"Why didn't you tell me you knew her?" Luke looked curiously at Calum.
They've only been friends for a short amount of time. Michael was going on about a guy he bought weed from, and it turned out to be Calum. That was about two months ago.
"I didn't know it was her, man. Swear." Calum laughed at the end, smoothly telling a lie, like he's done for years now, and turned around and walked back to the couch where the other boys were seated.
Luke knew better. He's been lied to a hundered times before.
He was lying.
