Ava
"You really need to get a hair cut," Ave had said, flicking the long curl on top of Luke's head. He had been trying to grow it out, thinking Ave would like it. Obviously she didn't.
"Does it look bad? I kinda like it," replied Luke, fixing his tie. His dad had a conference and invited his family, and even Ave, which she kindly rejected. She didn't own anything that nice.
"No, it doesn't look bad. It just-"
"Uh huh." Luke cut her off. "I know you, Ave. Your voice gets high when your lying. What's wrong with it?" He put on his suit jacket, smoothing down the sleeves before he sat down on his bed next to Ava. He grabbed a marshmellow from the bag and threw it in her mouth.
"Nothing is wrong with it Luke. I'm just not used to seeing you with long hair, that's all." And it was true. She couldn't say she hated it, because god, Luke looked good no matter what. She had grown a small crush on the blonde haired boy over the last month they have known each other.
"If I shaved off all my hair would you still like me?" Luke pouted his lip and batted his eye lashes. A loud laugh escaped Ava's lips, a sound Luke loved to hear. She shook her head and shoved a hand full of marshmallows into his mouth. He smiled, marshmallows falling from his mouth and onto his bed, which caused her to laugh even more.
Ave smiled softly. "Dork."
"Are you sure you don't want to come? I could pick you up a dress and we can go-"
"Luke, no. You're not buying me anything. I would love to go, I just can't. I have nothing to wear and plus, I have work," Ava sighed a big sigh and fell back against the headboard. "Michael is going, right? You two will have fun without me."
"Barely. I like you too much to be away from you so long." Ave blushed, causing Luke to laugh. She shook her head and got herself together. He grabbed a marshmallow and fed it to her. A knock on the door interrupted them.
"Luke, honey. Its time to go-" Luke's mom, Liz opened the door and instantly stopped talking once she saw Ave.
"Oh. Ave, dear. I didn't know you were here. Were going to Andrews conference. Would you like to join us?" Liz was a very nice person, Ave thought. Maybe even too nice.
"Oh, no Mrs. Hemmings. I wouldn't want to intrude-"
"Oh honey, its fine! Please do come!"
"She actually has work, mom." Luke rolled his eyes and looked at Ave. He made a silly face wish caused Ave to smile. "I wanted her to come too."
"Oh, that's too bad. Maybe next time, yeah? Luke dear, it's time to go." Liz shut the door slowly and walked away, leaving the two alone.
"Ill walk you out. Hey, do you want these marshmallows?" Luke picked up the bag and walked over to Ave's bag.
"No. You can keep them." She said, putting on her converse.
"Okay." Luke replied. Ava grabbed her things and Luke walked her to the elevator.
"Alright, remember. Were going to see that movie tomorrow so don't forget. No partying, or robbing banks. You hear me?" Luke joked.
Ava laughed. "No promises, Luke. Ill see you later." Luke leaned in and for a moment, a small moment, Ave thought he was gonna kiss her. She slowly leaned backwards. She wasn't sure if she wanted anything to happen.
She hugged him tightly instead. She was already missing his presence and she hadn't even left yet. They eventually split apart and she walked into the elevator and right before the door closed, Luke jumped into a pose and made the ugliest face he had ever made in his life. Ave laughed the whole way up to her room. She unlocked her door and threw her bag onto the counter and unzipped it, looking for her small IPod. She expected it to be the first thing in there, but it wasn't. All she saw was a big bag of marshmallows. She smiled softly and pulled them out. She took a picture and texted Luke.
-I thought i said I didn't want these? :)
She debated on whether or not to put the smile face on the end, but ended up going with it. No less then 10 seconds later she got a reply.
-We needed something to snack on when I sneak into your apartment at 1 in the morning when I get home, right?
