Ave
*Reno, Nevada, 1 year earlier*
"I fucked up, Ave. I fucked up bad." Calum walked into the hotel room and dropped his duffel bag onto the small desk in the corner. Ave sat up, and put the joint she had in her hand on the desk. She looked at her partner, and saw the look on his face. He looked worried, and Calum Hood never got worried or nervous. He was cocky and arrogant, but that's why they were friends.
He had a faint black eye appearing under is right eye and had blood splatters under his hoodie. Ava stood up, slowly, taking in his appearance.
"What did you do?"
The look on his face said nothing good. He just shook his head, walked over to the joint on the table and took a nice, long drag. Ava stood there, waiting for him to explain. She figured he was trying to calm down and think of how to start. After a few minutes, he finally spoke.
"Kyle... his load never got delivered."
Ava's eyes widened. "What do you mean? Of course it did, you delivered it last nigh-"
"That's what I thought, but the fucking chump who I gave it to fucking took it for himself. Fucking selfish bastard-"
"Calum-" Ava's words got stuck in her throat, the fear already being set into place. She looked down at him and he looked back at her. Calum let out a shaky breath and spoke.
"I-I don't know what to do," he cried. Ava had never seen Calum show any emotion besides ignorance and aggression. And here he sat, crying, weeping, begging her for help. The fact was, they would probably kill Calum. And her too, just because they were partners.
Kyle. Kyle was the boss of, well, every thing anyone ever did in this business. He always got what he wanted, and never felt remorse for anything he did or anyone he killed. Kyle needed everything done perfectly and on time, or he will make your life a living hell. In Calums case, he would most definitely kill him. He would kill him for making the biggest mistake anyone could make in this business. He would kill him for being imperfect. He would kill him for being selfish. He would kill him simply because he could. And everyone knew it.
"I-" Ava was interrupted as Calum's cell phone rang. The noise sent goose bumps up her arms, and the noise was almost mocking her somehow. She glanced at Calum to see he was staring at it, letting the phone vibrate off the desk. Ava slowly walked over and knelt down, retrieving the phone from the floor. She looked at the caller ID and once she saw who it was, she let out a sigh of relief.
"Max, what's-"
"You need to get of the hotel. Now." Chills went up Ava's spine, and she looked to Calum and signalled to start packing. He nodded and right away got to work.
"What's going on?"
"Kyle is coming. He knows what Calum did and he's pissed. That was the biggest load he's ever auctioned on and Kyle paid extra for it and he's going shit crazy. He is going to kill Calum, and probably you. If he finds out I called you, me too. Get out of there. Don't tell me where you go, and don't try to contact me. I will contact you."
"I know." Ava simply said. She knew the drill. Every one had a plan in case shit got bad, exactly like this. This is what every person in this business feared. They were afriad of failing. They were afraid of Kyle. They were afraid of death. Not Ava. She didn't care, hell, she hoped someone would kill her before she ended up killing herself. But Calum, there was something about him that made her want to help him, make sure he made it out okay. And she would make sure of it. Even if it costed her life. She would make sure he would be okay.
They left that night.
And never looked back.
That is, until Kyle eventually came for them.
And he wouldn't go down without revenge.
And he knew just how to get it.
