Ave
"Can't you just, you know, not go?" Luke pled as he sat upside down on his bed. Ave stood from the position that she had been in for two hours, and stretched her short legs.
"I have to."
Luke groaned and swung his feet over the edge. He stood up right, and grabbed her bag that sat on his chair in the corner.
"Can I come with-"
"No." Ave didn't mean to sound so harsh, but it slipped out before she thought about it. She sighed and slowly turned to Luke. He stood there with a hurt look on his face and slowly extended the bag to her. She reached for it and put the bag into her shoulders. She didn't pull away, though. She gripped his hand and mumbled his name. "Luke."
He looked up and their eyes caught each other. He licked his lips and took his lip ring into his mouth with his teeth, something he knew got her attention. She looked at it and felt a shiver run up her body, starting at her toes and all the way to her finger tips. She looked into his blue eyes, and ran her hand up his arm and to the back of his neck, slowly. It was Luke's turn to shiver, and she felt it. She gripped the hair at the base of his neck and tugged on it. He squeezed his eyes shut tight, and re-opened them. She was looking at him in a way she's never looked at anybody, not even him. She didn't know what was coming over her, but she did know that she didn't want it to stop.
Luke leaned in, slower than he's ever moved before. He's only ever kissed one girl, and when he did she yelled and pushed him off her, so it didn't go well. But with Ave, it was different. He genuinely liked her, and he didn't want to mess this up.
"Ave.." Luke whispered. Right as their lips were about to touch, footsteps echoed down the hall and a knock came at his bedroom door.
"Luke, honey?"
Ave took a couple steps back, ending up across the room. They looked at each other and Luke pointed to the fire escape. She nodded and ran over to the window and climbed through it before her foot got caught on the edge of the window and she flew forward. Her upper half flew across the railing of the bars as she heard Luke's door open. She instantly fell to the ground and held in the groan the was about to escape her mouth.
Luke's parents found out about Ave's situation, and mostly its because where she lives. They decided Luke and Ave shouldn't be alone together, which made no sense to either Luke nor Ave because she literally lived in the same building, and he was a college boy and could make his own decisions. Ave heard mumbling and feet shuffling. Someone popped their head out the window and her heart stopped in her chest.
It was Luke.
"You can get up now, little girl." Ave rolled her eyes at this statment, and rose to her feet. She adjusted her clothes and wiped off the dirt and grim off of her clothes.
She walked over to the edge and stood up on the railing. She swung her legs around the edge and gripped the metal bars with her hands. She looked at Luke one last time.
"See you later, baby."
She didn't wait to see his facial expression before climbing up the ladder.

"What are we going to do about this, Ave?" Calum looked up at Ave through the smoke in the small living room. Ave blew out a big cloud of smoke and handed him the joint.
"Im going to get high."
Calum groaned. "And then after that?"
Calum waited for an answer, looking at her with inpatient eyes. His knees started to bounce and he took another drag.
"Im going to get high again."
Calum groaned and leaned back. "I don't want to run again, Ave. I like it here, I have friends. They know where we are and no way their just gonna let us go."
"I know-"
"I mean look at what those guys did to you! Just to find me! Can you imagine what they'd do if the caught me?"
"I know-"
"I mean, they found you. Do you think they know where I am?"
"I don't know-"
"Oh god. They know. They have to. We have to run again Ave-"
"Calum." Ave spoke sternly, standing to her feet. Calum looked up at her and instantly calmed down. For some odd reason, that Calum didn't know, he felt okay when he was with Ave. He felt safe, which was weird to say. She always had a plan and she was smart. She had been in the business longer than he had which made her better than him.
"We are not going to run. We are going to stay on the low until something happens."
"Yeah, okay. Like my funeral."
Ave glared at Calum and stole the joint from his hands. She flicked his forhead. "No more for you."
They were interrupted when there was a knock at the door.
