Chapter 9: Whatever It Takes

I look up to see a door at the end of the hall. An "Exit" sign resting over it.

I fight the urge to run out and leave everyone behind.

You wouldn't want anyone leaving you behind.

I hear voices from around the corner.

Talen.

I stand up, quickly dragging the girls body away from the corner and into an open room. Silently shutting the door, I jog back down the steps.

A gilt feeling rises in my stomach. She would have ruined it. She would've gave you and Jake away! Why am I worried about Jake?

Some how I can't convince myself she had to die. I couldn't think of any other solution that would save us both.

At the bottom of the steps I see all the prisoners have been released.

Goodness!

The hole hall was filled.

Talen must hold grudges.

"We had to take down three other guards." Jake informs me.

"What ever it takes."

I scan the hall of soldiers. I recognize most of the faces. . They must be from camp.

"Where's the rest of the camp?"

"They joined that jerks army, willing." Someone tells me from the crowd.

Jake walked up to me. "You know them?"

I nod. "I found an exit."

He shakes his head at this. "All the exits lead to traps. Talen isn't that stupid."

I'm a little offended.

"So how do we get out?!"

"Theres an emergency escape tunnel."

Happy with a plan B I nod my head. "Where?"

"In Talen's room."

This only only gets better...
