Every day I walked down the halls, I seemed to run into Carlos. We gave each other longing gazes but we turned and continued down our roads. I even noticed a few girls started to flirt with him and get his attention. It filled me with envy but it wouldn't matter because he was no longer with me. Feeling like that was a waste of breath and time. Everytime I saw it, I beat myself up for causing all of it but no matter what I did or thought or what anyone else did and say, I couldn't stop.

Reed had begun to flirt with me and I started to sneakily flirt back if Carlos was nearby. Every time I laughed at Reed and looked in Carlos's direction, I saw the same emotions flash through his eyes; envy and rage.

It felt wrong toying with his jealousy but I wanted to show him how I saw it as well. An eye for an eye.

People started to talk about the upcoming dance as Finals were almost over and Winter break was coming near. I didn't know what I was doing during the break or where I was going. I wasn't in perfect shape to live near Carlos and with my father yet. I needed this plan to work first.

During studying in my room, Ben popped in and smiled at me.

"Hey Piper. I've got news about your father" He said. I sat up and put my pens down. My full attention was on him.

"My Parents allowed him to come and he's coming on the day before the Dance just so it gives him enough time to get ready and to settle in once he's arrived. I might even be able to give him a tour of Auradon Prep." I jumped onto my feet and squealed with excitement. I flung my arms around his neck and jumped up and down.

"Thank you, thank you, and thank you!" I squealed over and over again. He laughed and pulled back with a toothy grin.

"No, it was no problem. Anything else my parents can do?" he asked.

I nodded and kept the smile on my face. "I need my mother to come as well" I said.

He nodded in agreement until a light bulb light in his eyes but he kept it hidden. "I can do that. I heard she was visiting Mulan's family but will be back in four days."

"That will be fine. I just need to know if' it's good as soon as possible." With a nod and a hug, he left the room and allowed me to continue my dreadful studying. What fun.

My moods were improving but the cracks in my heart were still visible. Word had gotten around about my breakup but everyone was sympathetic to me. I was glad everyone was supporting me but I was upset that my private life was now on show like a whimpering lion in a cage. It was strong but also very weak. I would've blamed someone but when students who fancy one of them notice that we're no longer near each other and instead giving sad, painful and longing looks at each other, they pieced it together. It was the classic news cycle though.

It was only a week until the dance and only a week until the plan. Ben asked his parents and my mother if she could come, they pounced at the opportunity before you could say 'frazzle' or any other quirky word.

Ben helped me think of a place to set it all. We decided the secluded pavilion thirty minutes into the dance, making it seem like a coincidence that they were both there at the same moment. Genius idea, no?

"So at seven o'clock, I will get my father to go for a walk where I also apologise and lead him to the pavilion" I said to Ben. We were both sitting in the library supposedly studying when really, we were plotting.

"Whilst I bring Lucinda – I mean, your mother, and also go for a walk with her where we could catch up" Ben said. "I will also need to get your father an outfit that is suitable for the theme."
