Legolas's POV

When I had first met Lyriel I knew that what my father had told me about her was true. She seemed strong, brave, and courageous, everything she needed to be to take back... My fathers booming voice had woken me from my thoughts.

"I am Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm of Mirkwood. And you must be Mirabella? Exactly the way I thought you would be." I had not realized my father thought so much about her.

"Speak up child, do you not have anything to say? Any questions perhaps?" The King's voice was so loud and strong that every word he spoke seemed to knock the breathe right out of Lyriel's lungs.

"I...I...It..It's Lyriel actually." You could barely make out what she was saying.

"I beg your pardon?"

"I do not go by Mirabella anymore." She seemed so nervous, you could hear it in her voice. She was fumbling with her dress and was swaying back and forth ever so slightly.

"I changed my name after Prince Legolas came and trained me." I told her not to call me that. She must be so taken back by my father that she forgot.

"I see. Queen Lyriel has a better sound to it anyway." Oh here we go, my father just throwing it out there.

"Wait what? What do you mean Queen Lyriel? Why did you call me that?" You could tell she was now very uncomfortable.

"Many years ago almost 1000. There was an alliance between the Elves and Men of Middle Earth. But that alliance was weak and broke. One of the last elf and men alliances was the one between the woodland elves of Mirkwood and the men of Rohan."

"Ok I knew about that alliance, we learn about the ancient wars and alliances in training. But what does that have to do with calling me queen Lyriel?"

"I had become very close with the King of Rohan your great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather at the time. I would go vist him but he would most often come visit us here in Mirkwood. One time while he visited a secret rebellion which had formed in Rohan had killed his family while he was visiting. They then turned his own loyal guards against him.
One brave messenger had come and warned the King of what had happened so that the King could save himself and his people. But before the king returned he went out for a walk along the forests borders and found an elvish women. That night he slept with the women to make sure he continued the royal blood line and trusted that women with the fate of Rohan." I always enjoyed hearing my father tell stories, he just had the perfect voice for it.

"That poor King lost everything. His family his friends, loyal gaurds. That must have been horrible. What ever happened to him?" Lyriel asked.

"He returned home after I begged him not to and to stay where it was safe with me but refused, he said that it was his destiny. When he finally returned he was hung. The people thought that his ways were harsh and cruel and that he had ruined the land and people of the west."

"That's terrible. I know how he feels, losing your family. I lost mine, my father disapeared and my mother went mad, lost control. Her mind practically imploded on itself. I lost her too." Lyriel stopped fidgeting and swaying back and forth. She became upset, her whole body seemed to sadden, just seeing her reaction made me want to reach out to her, to comfort her.

"Lyriel you are the rightful heir to the throne of Rohan. You should be on that throne not that fake 'King' Darius."

"Hahahaha!!! You want ME to be a Queen?" She started laughing and acting strange again as if she was joking, I figured it was that sarcasm thing from earlier.

"Lyriel, that's why you are here" I finally spoke up, "it is your destiny, this is no game! Return to Rohan and take back your Kingdom!" I was practically ordering her to do what I said. "That man is ruining Rohan. My father wants there to be an alliance between the Elves and Men again."

"Legolas is right, together we are stronger. Together we are better." My Father was so calm and gentle, it was odd seeing him like that.

"How? How am I supposed to overthrow a King? I could barely save those children!" Lyriel seemed to be getting a little upset. She wants answers. "Tell me... if you know so much then do you know where my father is? Or why he left me?"

"In time Lyriel all things become clear." She wants answers that I do not know my Father has.
