Lyriel's P.O.V

It's been almost a month since I left Rohan and I still do not have all the answers to my questions. King Thranduil still hasn't told me anything about my father and everytime I bring it up he changes the subject or just completely ignores me and walks away without saying anything.

The whole time I've been here Legolas has been training me in swordsmanship and the proper archery technique every day. Then when that's over King Thranduil teaches me how to access my 'inner elf' or something like that. He says that because the elven blood in me is so little, that I have to practice 'being an elf'. One thousand years ago my ancestor bore a child with an elf maiden and there has been no other elven mothers or fathers since and that means the elven gifts any mixed child possess are lost. And now it's my job to find them within me and bring those gifts out.

King Thranduil says that it's rare for elvish and mortal mixed children to posses such gifts, especially with my elven blood being so little but that in special cases magic gifts do appear and that if you work and train hard enough you may find it, deep inside of you.

I have also grown very close with the royal family, specifically Legolas. We spend a lot of time together, training, shooting and just hanging around. He really is a fine Prince, and will probably make an excellent King. When I first started my 'inner elf' training it unlocked alot of bad memories I had as a child. When my mother went crazy she became abusive and used to beat me, take her anger about my father out on me. When I joined the army all those memories were put away in the back of my mind, forgotten about entirely. And this mind expanding training brought them all back and I've been having these really bad nightmares, I'll wake up in the night screaming, crying even fighting the air. Legolas used to hear me and run into my room grab my arms, hold me down until I stop fighting. Sometimes I just cry and he'll hear me sobbing, come into my room and sit with me until I calm down and fall asleep.

This one time I was sleep fighting and somehow grabbed my dagger from on top of my dresser and started swinging my arms around. When Legolas ran in he did not see the dagger and I sliced his chest. What woke me up was his scream in pain. He fell to his knees grabbing his chest in pain bleeding horribly. He ended up healing fairly quickly, apparently it's an elvish thing. Even after that incident he still comes and calms me down but now he first checks for weapons.

Sometimes I think we're the best of friends, other times I feel like we are much closer than just friends. If anything were to happen to him I feel as if I could be lost. He is my one and only friend. I never had friends in Rohan and now I do. He goes out of his way to help me do anything or just to make me feel comfortable. I was sick once and I just had to let it pass through my system. But Legolas told me he'd never seen anything like that before. He refused to let my meals be brought to me in bed by servants I didn't know. So he would bring me anything and everything. He would sit on the bed with me and chat with me if I couldn't fall asleep. I was bed ridden for about 2 weeks and he never left my side.

One night I was extremely ill and was throwing up terribly, I had a high fever but the doctors said they couldn't do anything for me and the best thing was to just let it pass naturally. Chrysilla wasn't around and I struggled to get to the washroom. Legolas some how heard me and saw me crawling across the floor. He picked me up like he did back in Rohan when I was wounded. He then brought me over to the bathroom and even held back my hair as I threw up. When my episode was over he carried me over to my bed and laid me down gently. My stomach was in pain, my head was throbbing and I could not fall asleep at all. Legolas proceeded to tuck me into bed, I was so weak I couldn't pull the blankets up onto me.

He sat up on the bed with his back against the wall leaned over and whispered to me that he wouldn't leave my side until I was better. As I lay there moaning and groaning in pain he rubbed my head and played with my hair trying to comfort me. At one point he held me in his arms and softly sang a song to me in elvish. It was the most amazing thing I have ever heard. It was also the most any one has ever done for me. I finally fell asleep but right before I fell into a deep sleep I felt Legolas kiss my forehead and lay me back onto the pillow whispering "Le annon veleth nín."

When I awoke the next morning he was gone and Chrysilla was there to greet me I tried to ask her what Legolas said to me by trying to say it. Eventually after many attempts we finally got it. He said "I give my love to you." Why he would say this was beyond me. I am nothing special, it must have been pitty for me. Chrysilla then took it upon herself to teach me elvish.

I hope you all enjoyed! If you've got any suggestions on how I could make this fanfic better please share them in the comments thanks!
