I got the news

I would be a big sister at last

But I had to wait 9 months.

Mom and dad brought home pictures of you in her belly

and I showed them off

I said "look, look at my little brother."

We got prepared

Where you were to sleep, and bought you clothes

even got you some bears.

I waited and watched

watched as mummy's tummy grew

and how you grew too!

I helped put a crib together

and helped choose a car seat

I thought of names and helped with everything.

Then one day I got different news

On that heart shattering April 18

Life would never be the same.

You would not be coming home

in your new seat

or be sleeping with your new bears.

We would have to go on living

with only 4 in the house...

For you were born sleeping.
