This year my mom and I moved to Los Angeles, California from East Texas. Don't ask me about my dad cause to tell the truth I've never really met him. I was kind of a loner at my old school wandering the halls lonely and frail. I was a social butterfly that never got to spread my wings. I went to a strict private school where cliques were formed from kindergarten. Sadly I was never invited to be a part of one. But since noone knows me here I am going to turn over a new leaf and smile at and talk to anyone I can. I'm going to be 17 next month. September 12th to be exact. For the first time ever I will be going to a public high school. Sherman Oaks High. I am really excited!

"Alyssa honey, you better get a move on or your'e going to be late!" my mom yelled up the stairs.

"I'm ready!" I called down to my mom. I put some light eyeliner and mascara on for the first time. At my old school I had no reason to dress up or wear makeup since noone saw me or talked to me anyway. Here would be different. I could feel it. I took an hour to get ready and do my hair another first for me. I want to look my best for my first day at a new highschool. I look into the mirror one last time and take a deep breath before descending the stairs into our beautiful and bright kitchen.

I do alot of cooking because my mom is usually busy working so when we went to look at houses I fell in love with the kitchen. It had bay windows that looked into the backyard and lots of natural sunlight filtered in so there was no need for lights except at night. Before we moved in my mom had the kitchen painted a bright yellow color to go with the sushine. We also have an inground pool that;s shaped like a box with pink tiles around the pool and the bottom of the pool. I guess the previous owners liked pink but my mom and I don't mind because we like pink too. I hurriedly grabbed my pink bag from the chair I had left it in last night.

I grabbed my breakfast which was a cinnamon poptart. My favorite! My mom doesn't cook much but I don't mind. I gave my mom a hug and she wished me luck.

I hop into my cherry red Toyota Corolla and cruise down the highway with the windows down blaring Taylor Swifts new cd the whole way to school. I didn't feel any nerves until I actually got to the school. I gasp at the sheer large size of it. It has a huge fountain in the front with the school mascot. I parked my car in the student parking lot almost getting lost and held my head high with a light smile on my face as I strolled to the Administration building to check in and get my schedule.

As I enter the building I look around and notice some pretty stained glass windows and aout a thousand lockers. They are everywhere. I walk past what must be atleast 20 doors until I reach the sign saying registration and schedules.

Just as I round the corner I run into someone knocking their phone out of their hand. I quickly pick up their phone and hand it to them. Luckily there wasn't any damage.

"Sorry!" I quickly say, hiding my face behind my hair out of embarassment.

"Watch where your going loser!" came the harsh reply.

I looked up just in time to see a girl with wavy brown hair turn the corner.

" I saw what happened. Are you ok?" someone asks out of nowhere.

I look up and see a really pretty girl. She has sparkling blue-green eyes and waist length, straight blonde hair. She is wearing a cheerleading outfit with pom poms and was also grinning a little at my embarassment. I finally nodd my head too embarassed to speak.

"My names Kelsey! Haven't seen you before. Are you new?" She asks me curiously.

"Actually, yeah I am." I reply nervously.

"Ohh so you are on your way to register then." she prompts me.

"Ummm yeah. Register and pick up my schedule." I admit.
