Bramblestar -I'm missing you (2)

I just can't get you off my mind

Bramblestar hissed as he missed another squirrel that was just right in front of him, it should've been easy kill. He was leading today's hunting patrol and was irritated at how easy the prey had escaped him every time. He sat up and washed himself in embarrassment, Dovewing was right behind him, "Something's wrong with me today, I think I'll return to the camp for awhile," Bramblestar shook himself, "You all carry on, don't worry about me." Brightheart pricked up her ears, "Are you sick? Or is it something that we can help you with?" Bramblestar flicked his ears at her, "No, I will be fine. Nothing you all should worry about. I just have to talk with Jayfeather for a bit." With that, Bramblestar bounded off towards the direction of the camp, he knew what was the problem- it was Squirrelflight. His mind had been filled with images of Squirrelflight recently, her as an apprentice and he as a young warrior, and then she playing with their "adopted" kits as a queen. His queen. 

It's driving me crazy, missing you baby

He tried shaking her off from his mind countless of times but the more he tried to remove her from his thoughts, the more she seemed to stay. He figured out he might be missing her, that's why he was acting strange. He hated to admit it though.

Thinking bout you all the time

He thought of Jessie and how lucky he was to have her. He knew of a few toms who had taken a liking to Jessie, and it was quite a list. Even as a kittypet, she was constantly badgered by toms. Even in camp he could see a few of his warriors glancing at her at times but he just ignored them. She was already his after all.

But with Squirrelflight it was different, he had to have her around to sort out his problems for him. Any problems he faced in the camp, he realized that her approval of his decision meant a lot to him and he could never proceed without her being there to encourage him on.  And it wasn't just clan problems, it was personal problems too, like at times he felt he wasn't being a good enough clan leader but she was always there to back him up. It's just the past few moons he hadn't been telling her those personal problems and he couldn't tell Jessie either, she wouldn't understand. And so it battered him on the inside, weighing him down and dampening his mood.  

To me it's not worth it

He was angry, what did he do to deserve this mental torture? He had to go find Jayfeather, as a medicine cat he should know what to do. It wasn't worth his time thinking about things that should have been buried in the past a long time ago. But he could not stop thinking about one honest thought that kept on replaying itself in his mind.

Though she (Jessie) may be perfect
She could never be like her (Squirrelflight)...
