"Stop it Greenfern!" Squirrelflight pranced playfully around Greenfern whose eyes lit with amusement as he batted Squirrelflight's ears with his paws. They were out of camp and inside the forest, enjoying the cool night air that came in the spring. She padded towards him and entwined her tail around his, "I'm so happy you're here with me," she leaned heavily towards his side. "Me too Squirrelflight, me too," at this, Greenfern turned towards her, his bright green eyes shining bright in the light of the moon. Squirrelflight stared back and to her annoyance, a flash of Bramblestar's amber eyes came across her memory. "What is it?" Greenfern asked her gently, his nose nudging her shoulder. Squirrelflight stood up and sat farther away from Greenfern, "nothing. Just.....nothing." Greenfern then stood up and moved to her, "you know you can always tell me anything Squirrelflight, I'll always be here for you." Squirrelflight turned her head away from him, ashamed, Greenfern was such a caring tom and she's not been a single moment lonely ever since she decided to give a try with him. She felt a lick on her forehead and looked up, only to find Greenfern's concerned eyes staring straight back at hers, "I see you Squirrelflight, I do. And I know you're scared, scared to trust again.....but I won't fail you Squirrelflight, not like he did. I won't ever desert you," Greenfern murmured gently to her, "you're so beautiful."

Shocked, Squirrelflight did not know how to reply, he knew what she was fearful of- well partially, but still! She thought she hid it well but apparently not. It was just that she felt so guilty at times for liking Greenfern but yet at the same time clinging on to Bramblestar even though most of the time she didn't mean to but his face just flashes across her mind. Not knowing the best way to react, Squirrelflight just gave a playful bat at Greenfern's ear and Greenfern grinned. Soon, both of them were tumbling through bushes, going downhill, rolling over and over again, laughing loudly until a strong voice broke out through the darkness. Squirrelflight looked up, her paws still wrapped around Greenfern's neck. To her dismay, Bramblestar strode out of the darkness of the forest, moonlight shining on his fur and highlighting his muscles which were now tensed with anger. Her mood from earlier on vanished immediately but she decided to stay where she's at, to show him that he can't rule every single aspect of her life. Bramblestar looked angry- no, furious at the both of them. "What are you two doing?" he hissed through his clenched teeth. At this, Greenfern immediately got up from where he was at but before standing, he gave Squirrelflight a comforting lick to her cheek.

"Forgive me Bramblestar, it is my fault. I brought Squirrelflight here for a midnight walk," Greenfern met his angry gaze steadily, tail not twitching. "You did, didn't you? Even though you knew full well Squirrelflight needs to have the rest of her energy to serve the clan! Yet you were selfish enough to bring her out here," Squirrelflight could see Bramblestar spitting up every single word which was also laced with venom and unconcealed anger. She decided then and there to help Greenfern out, "STOP! Bramblestar, I came out here of my own volition, do not blame Greenfern." Bramblestar then turned his attention to her and his fur bristled, "YOU! You who should've known better than to go frolicking about in the middle of the night!" Anger flowed through Squirrelflight's veins, "I'm not a kit Bramblestar, I am entitled to go wherever I want whenever I want and with whomever I want!" "Stop acting so kit-tish Squirrelflight! Think for your clan, serve your best for them and only them!" Bramblestar spat. "I am Bramblestar! Are you so mousebrained that you cannot see that? All I'm asking for is a break, is that so hard?" Squirrelflight resorted to pleading with him. Bramblestar's eyes narrowed, "I am your leader. You do as I say!" At this, Squirrelflight's eyes flashed with fire and she snarled, "Since when did you become so selfish!" "I'm not selfish, you are. If you would only think of your-" Bramblestar started but she cut him off. "I'm so done with listening to you and your rules that don't make sense. I'm looking for happiness Bramblestar, and if you can't support that then that's fine. But just don't disrupt what Greenfern and I have. You found your happiness Bramblestar, don't you think I deserve one too? Especially since you're the one who took it away." Squirrelflight could've kicked herself for that small confession at the end but she kept silent and let her gaze bore into those heated amber eyes. Bramblestar said nothing, but returned her gaze. Both could not find themselves able to look away.

Finally, Bramblestar opened his mouth, "No, you do not deserve a chance of happiness..." Gasping, Squirrelflight backed away, eyes wide with horror, not believing what she had just heard. Not listening to Greenfern's words behind her , she turned and ran. She fled from what she could not believe a tom she had once loved, said-  that she was not worthy of love.
