Bramblestar

Hi readers! First of all, I must apologize for not updating as "soon" as I said I was going to. >.< But thank you all for being so patient with me. And the_lemon22 , so sorry that I haven't replied to your comments, but I really appreciate them ;) So here it is, the next part of the story!!!!!

Waves of shock and nausea rolled in Bramblestar's stomach as he saw Squirrelflight "disappear" into the ground. "NO!!!!!!" he yelled, running forward to try to reach Squirrelflight before it was too late. "No......" he wailed as he reached the place where he'd seen Squirrelflight fall and saw a big black gaping hole. "It's all my fault," he said softly, his voice tinged with pain and anguish. Regret rolled over him and he was struck with a sudden dizziness.

 Suddenly, an idea struck him, what if he could go inside and get her? Just because she fell,  it didn't mean she was dead, does it? Bramblestar debated with himself for awhile, he had to try! He paced around the large hole, deciding which was the best and safest way to go in when suddenly he heard a crack below him. His eyes widened with horror as he realized that the branch below him was also unstable. "Keep calm Bramblestar, just move slowly," Bramblestar told himself as he tried to inch his way backwards, away from the frail branch. He was almost at the end when the branch broke with a sickening groan and Bramblestar lost his footing. He begin to fall. "My clan! Thunderclan!" Bramblestar thought frantically as he struggled to try to grab hold of anything at the sides just so he would stop falling. There was nothing. Apparently the hole widened at the bottom and was even bigger than it looked from above. "Why on earth did you have to play the hero?" Bramblestar thought to himself angrily as he realized now his clan would be left without both deputy and leader. 

Down and down he fell, the wind whipping past him as though they were admonishing him for what he had done- both to Squirrelflight as well as his clan. He had been too carried away with his feelings, with jealousy. Of Greenfern. "I'm so sorry Squirrelflight," Bramblestar closed his eyes as he thought of her soft fur and bright green eyes- he could drown in them. Now he would never see them again. He most likely would die, considering that he was still falling at such high speed. Just as he thought the inevitable, he landed on something soft and moist though it knocked his breath out of him, 
"Oof!" He laid there, winded from the fall when suddenly he heard, from his breathless state, breathing. Could it be? 

Bramblestar scrambled up, "Squirrelflight?" he called out anxiously. He lifted his nose to catch her scent- if it was her. He only caught a whiff of it before he heard pawsteps racing away, it was Squirrelflight! "Wait Squirrelflight, stop!" Bramblestar shouted before he started running after her by following her scent, "Wait!"
