After talking to Brianna for awhile, I decided it was time to go back inside, as it was getting dark. The sun began diving deeper into the water, and the sky was being painted deep purples and navy blues.

“How was your walk?” My aunt asked as I stepped through the door. I looked to the left, where the living room was, and saw my aunt on her laptop.

“It was fine; I met your neighbor.”

“Oh, Brianna,” she paused and let out a small laugh. “She is quite the character.”

I laughed awkwardly at her comment, and then made my way up the stairs and into my bedroom. I turned on my laptop, and immediately went to my favorite site, YouTube. Before clicking on a video, I checked my phone. I had a missed call from my dad, and a new text. I decided to call my dad first.

“Hello?” My dad’s voice rang through the phone.

 “Hi Dad,” I said nervously.

“Hi Skip! How are you, did you get there safely?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.” I answered. There was a long, awkward pause. “How are you?”

“I’m good, I’m good!” My dad responded.

“Well that’s good,” again, another long pause.

“Did you make any friends yet?”

“Yeah, Aunt Cari has a neighbor about my age named Brianna, she’s pretty cool.” I answered. I didn’t want to tell my dad about Damon, I mean odds are we’re never going to speak to each other again.

“Well that’s good Skip. I really hate to cut this short, but I have to get back to work, so I’ll call you tomorrow. Goodnight, love you.”

“Goodnight Dad, love you too,” and with that, the line went dead. I wasn’t expecting a long call, because I knew work would get in the way sooner or later, so it’s not like I was upset or anything. After that, I went to check my phone, my stomach exploded in butterflies, and my heart did that little, flippy thing.

 Hey, it’s Damon! :)

I quickly added his number into my phone before replying.

Hey, I’m so glad you texted me! :)

Sure it was cheesy, but I didn’t care, all I cared about was the fact that Damon texted me, he actually texted me! I couldn’t help but internally freak out; he was an awesome YouTuber after all. I watched some videos (yes, I was watching Damon’s) and waited for him to reply.

I’m glad too, you are a pretty awesome girl, I’m happy we met.

My heart stopped, I felt my cheeks burning red. Thankfully, he wasn’t there, because I probably looked like a tomato.

Thank you, I’ve worked very hard on my social awkwardness.
