The days until Anne and Steve were supposed to report to army camp went by in a blur. They tried to enjoy the time they had left while also figuring out how to tell Bucky that they were in the army now. They both knew that he would be proud of them, but that he would worry a lot and tell them how he thinks they should back out.

And obviously not wanting to back out, the two decided that they were going to drop the letter off right when they were about to leave which just so happened to be that day. Steve and Anne walked up to the post office with their bags in their hands. A big blue mailbox was out front and the two stopped in front of it before Steve glanced over at the girl.

Anne set her bag down before pulling a small envelope out of her coat pocket. She stared at the name of her best friend that was written neatly on the front before taking a deep breath and shoving the envelope into the mailbox.

She then let out a relived sigh and turned to Steve with a small smile on her face. "Hard part's over," Anne assured him to which Steve made a face. "You do know we are about to go to an army camp where we will get trained to be soldiers, right?" Steve asked. "You do know Bucky is going to kill us as soon as he gets that letter, right?" Anne retorted.

Steve went to say something but just gave a small nod in response when he realized she was right. "True," Steve muttered. He then smirked at the girl and chuckled softly as he said, "He's going to be so mad." "He'll be proud too," Anne pointed out. "But his anger will probably overpower the proudness."

Steve chuckled softly before swiftly bending down and picking up Anne's bag. "Steve," Anne went to say but he cut her off with a shake of his head as he sent an effortless yet breathtaking smile her way. "I got it," he assured her.

Anne debated over arguing with him or not before just sighing and looking at him in awe. "I don't deserve you," Anne muttered to which Steve rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. We both know it's the other way around. Now let's go. Don't want to be late now do we?" Steve asked.

Anne stood up straight and saluted the boy before saying in a mocking tone, "No, sir." Steve rolled his eyes again, but chuckled softly. "You're an idiot," Steve told her. "But I'm your idiot," Anne teased him as they began to walk out of the post office. And as they walked through the doors, Steve glanced down at her and looked at her in a way that made the butterflies in her stomach go crazy.

"That you are," Steve told her. "That you are."

The trip to the camp didn't take as long as the two had thought it would. They had been able to keep themselves occupied pretty well so after a while of talking to each other and then sleeping against each other, Steve and Anne had finally arrived at the camp.

They barely had time to even look around before someone was ushering them through check in where they were given their cabin number and uniforms. Thankfully the two happened to be in the same cabin and Anne's fear of being stuck in a cabin with a bunch of male strangers was set at ease.

The two were directed to their cabin where they were told to quickly get ready before heading outside. Steve changed in the cabin room while Anne changed in one of the bathrooms and before they knew it, the two friends were outside standing in a line with a bunch of other recruits ready to start their first day of training.

Anne bounced nervously on her feet and Steve immediately noticed. His hand reached out and gave her own a small squeeze making her look over at him. "Relax," Steve told her and Anne nodded, already feeling herself grow less tense.
