After the shock of the experiment actually working, the scientists quickly started bustling over to the two. Steve was handed a plain white shirt while Anne was given her jacket back. The two quickly put their stuff on and Anne glanced over at Steve and let out a chuckle. He looked over at her and raised an eyebrow, silently asking her what was so funny.

"I guess now you're the not so little guy from Brooklyn," Anne laughed. Steve rolled his eyes with a small smile. However, the scientists all gave her looks making Anne redden with embarrassment. Not wanting her to be embarrassed, Steve chuckled at her joke.

Suddenly the room above the stairs burst into flames. Glass started to fall down on everyone and Steve shielded Anne from the glass as everyone began to scream. "Stop him!" Dr. Erskine yelled causing the two super soldiers to look up and see a man taking the last vial of serum.

The man then took out a gun and shot Dr. Erskine. Anne's hand went over her mouth as her eyes began to water. The man ran out of the room and Anne quickly ran over to Dr. Erskine with Steve at her side.

Dr. Erskine took his hands and pointed to where their hearts were. He then gave them both a weak smile before his hands fell to the ground and his eyes closed.

A tear rolled down Anne's face and Steve gave her a hug. The girl shook Steve off ignoring the confused and hurt look on his face. "No, he's not going to die for nothing," Anne began. "We need to get that serum back." Steve nodded and before anyone knew what was happening, the two super soldiers were running out of the lab.

The two sprinted up the stairs and ran down the hallway and out into the shop where they found the women, who had asked about the weather, dead.

Anne quickly ran outside and saw Peggy shooting at a yellow cab that was driving straight at her. Steve saw what Anne was looking at and ran across the street and pulled Agent Carter out of the way just as the car went barreling by. They got up and Peggy yelled, "I had him!"

"Sorry," Steve yelled with a small shrug as he began running after the cab. Anne soon followed and the two ran side by side after the yellow cab.

"Turn here. We can cut him off," Anne told Steve. They turned and Anne saw the yellow cab exactly a street down from them. Anne turned another corner and saw that the cab wasn't too far behind. Anne began to run faster when she heard a crash. She quickly looked behind her and saw Steve running out of a shop. "Sorry!" He yelled to which Anne just shook her head and let out a soft chuckle.

The two turned another corner right as the cab drove by. They used their new enhanced jumping skills and jumped over a fence before running into the road. Cars quickly slammed on their breaks and began to honk at them but the two ignored it as they once again caught sight of the cab and hurried to catch up. The driver must've noticed them because he quickly swerved into the traffic. Steve didn't even hesitate before he jumped on top of a car and began to jump from car to car while Anne followed.

They finally jumped on top of the cab and the man driving grew agitated and began to turn the car to each side in an attempt to make them fall off. After this failed attempt, the driver pushed his gun to the ceiling and began shooting. Anne's eyes widened as a bullet went through the roof near her face. After that, several more bullets began to pop through and the two were able to avoid them.

However, they weren't able to avoid them for much longer cause right as they thought the man had run out of bullets, a bullet shot through the roof and hit Anne's leg making the girl cry out in pain. Steve looked over at Anne in worry and in the process, slipped. He fell off the roof and Anne screamed out through her pain, "Steve!"

Steve held on to the side of the car and the man noticed and tried shooting at him. Steve dodged it and the man huffed in frustration. He was about to shoot again when both him and Steve caught sight of the car that they were barreling towards. The man didn't have time to react and before any of them knew it, the cars crashed together.

Anne and Steve fell off the car and watched as it began to roll around before coming to a stop as a door fell off. Anne took the time to look down at her leg which was covered with blood. "Anne!" Steve yelled. He quickly ran over to Anne and she shook her head while yelling, "Go! He's getting away!"

A bullet went near their feet and Steve jumped back while the girl crawled away. Steve turned and saw the man shooting at them so he quickly picked up the door that had fallen off the cab and held it up as a shield in front of him and Anne. When the shooting stopped, Anne looked up to see the man grab a boy and take him away from his mother. The man ran around a corner and Anne said to Steve, "Leave me here. I'll catch up later!"

"I'm not leaving you in the middle of the street unprotected!" Steve told her. He then picked Anne up bridal style and began to run down the street after the man. They turned the corner and Steve placed her down on top of a bunch of crates that were out of the way of the fight.

Steve then said, "You should be safe here. Don't move until I get back, okay?" He didn't give her time to respond before he was running away and after the man. Anne watched from the corner as the man stood next to a dock. Steve ran up and the man held the gun up to the boy's head.

"Wait, don't. Don't," Steve said. The man held the gun up at Steve. He shot, but nothing was left in his gun. He groaned and threw the boy over the dock. Steve ran to the edge and Anne heard the boy yell, "Go get him! I can swim."

Steve nodded and glanced at Anne. "Go!" Anne yelled. Steve nodded and ran after the man. Anne sat there for a moment before muttering, "Don't move? Yeah, right." She then got up and used the wall as a crutch to help guide her towards the direction Steve had went. Anne made it to where Steve was in time to see him jump off the dock and onto a submarine. The submarine then disappeared, Steve along with it. Anne limped over so that she stood by the edge of the dock and tried to look into the murky water to see if she could see them.

"Steve?" Anne asked with worry once she couldn't find anything. Nothing happened. All of a sudden, the man was thrown onto the dock and Steve came climbing up the latter. Anne scooted into a corner away from the man just as he began to swing at Steve. The blond only gave him an irritated look before promptly kicked him in the stomach.

He then grabbed the man by the shirt and yelled, "Who the hell are you?" The man placed something in his mouth and bit down. "The first of many. Kill one and two more take its place. Hail Hydra," the man said before dying in Steve's arms. Anne scrunched up her nose in confusion.

What the hell is Hydra?

Steve dropped the man and Anne tried to limp over. Steve looked over at her and quickly picked her up and placed her on top of a crate near the docks. "I told you to stay there," Steve said. "You know I don't like being told what to do," Anne said. He smiled, but his eyes glanced at Anne's leg which had already started to heal because of the serum.

"We have to get you checked," Steve told her. "It's fine. I'm fine," Anne told him. He glanced at her worriedly. "I promise," Anne assured him. Steve nodded and said, "I'm still carrying you back to the place." Anne laughed and he picked her up bridal style. "Oh, you're not kidding," Anne said. "Nope," Steve told her with a small smile.

Anne leaned her head against Steve's chest. "Thank you," Anne told Steve. "Any time," Steve said. Then he smiled that smile that made Anne start liking him in the first place. And boy was the smile contagious, cause in the end, she couldn't help but smile too.
