It wasn't long before the team left to go take down the Hydra bases. Over the course of a few weeks, the team traveled and took down bases as they attempted to find Schmidt again.
Anne and Bucky were usually the snipers of the team. Anne would stick to her arrows most of the time, but would join Bucky every once in a while with her gun.
As for the others, they were in charge of dropping the bombs that would blow up the tanks and bases while Anne and Bucky covered their backs. Each time they destroyed a base another pin would be taken off the map.
Then after each victory, the group would celebrate and talk by the fire until everyone got tired. It was no surprise that Steve and Anne tended to be the last ones up. After everyone went to bed they would spend time sitting together under the stars and talking for hours, with an with the occasional kiss here and there.
Then the next day the cycle would start all over again and they would be back to destroying more Hydra bases.
Anne and Steve hadn't really told the others about their relationship yet. Anne wasn't quite sure herself what they were as Steve had never clarified if they were dating or just having a thing. Because of this, she hadn't said much, not even to Bucky. But she knew they would find out eventually so it was no surprise when Bucky spoke up to her one day while they were watching the team's back.
"So you and Steve?" Bucky asked causing the brunette to look over at him. He raised his eyebrows and gave her a small smirk to which she rolled her eyes. "Me and Steve, what?" Anne asked. "You finally told him you liked him didn't you?" Bucky asked.
"Why do you think that?" Anne questioned. "The way you guys look at each other is a pretty big hint. But you avoided my question. You finally told him you liked him didn't you?" Bucky asked again.
Anne remained silent and Bucky's eyes widened in realization. A huge grin appeared on his face as he literally bounced with joy. "Well what did he say?" Bucky asked and Anne couldn't help but laugh at the excitement in his voice.
"I thought you were supposed to be like a brother to me. Brothers aren't usually ecstatic about their sister seeing someone," Anne told him. Bucky shrugged. "I know Steve. He's a great guy. I can trust him with you," Bucky said.
Anne smiled at that before sighing and turning her attention back to the fighting going on before them. "Technically he told me that he liked me first, but only after I kissed him," Anne admitted, her eyes flickering over the field where everyone was pretty much knocked out.
Well, almost everyone.
Anne watched as a Hydra soldier tried to sneak up on Steve, gun raised in the air. She quickly grabbed an arrow and yelled for Steve to duck before releasing it. Steve immediately ducked and Anne's arrow went flying behind him and into the soldier's chest.
The soldier fell to the ground and Steve looked back at him before turning to Anne. He gave her a small salute and she chuckled and did it back. Timothy then walked up to Steve and said something to him causing the two to break eye contact.
"When did this happen?" Bucky asked, snapping her back to reality. "Couple weeks ago," Anne stated with a shrug. "And you are just telling me now?!" Bucky yelled. "Shh," she said. "And you just told me now?" Bucky said softer. "Didn't know how to tell you," Anne admitted, her eyes flickering over to look at her best friend. "Wasn't sure how you were gonna take it."
