Chapter Nine:
“It’s nice seeing you Gabriella,” Cayden pulled out of the hug and got into his car. Just him holding me for a nano second still made my heart skip a beat.
I walked around and got into the passenger’s seat, admiring how nice his car was. It was an Aston Martin. I would love to have one of these babies. I can’t believe he didn’t open the door for me though, some gentleman. At least Bradin opens car doors for me…Wait? Why am I even comparing him to Bradin? Gosh I need sleep. I’m becoming delusional.
“So where would you like to go?”
“Well my friends are throwing a party to celebrate winning their Lacrosse game. They don’t mind if you come, so we could go to that if you want.”
He sat in silence for a minute then spoke, “Is there a lot of people going? I wonder if anyone I knew will be there.”
“Yeah there will be quite a few people there, there always is at the boy’s parties. There’s a few people we use to go to school with that will be there, but I don’t even know if they remember you. I haven’t spoken to them in a while.”
“Think I’ll need a body guard? After all I am famous,” He smirked as though he was joking but I swore he sounded serious.
“Are you serious Cayden? Why would you need a body guard? I doubt that you are going to get ripped apart by a few teenage girls, if anything they will probably just ask for your autograph or something,” I replied rolling my eyes.
“Hey you never know, I have a lot of money now and my clothes go on eBay for quite a bit,” He snapped at me and it almost seemed like he was mad at me for suggesting girls wouldn’t be all over him.
“Ok? I was just saying it’s a high school party Cayden. Not everyone wants to jump your bones. All I meant was you don’t need a body guard, that’s a little over the top don’t you think?”
He began to back out of the driveway, an emotion on his face I couldn’t quite understand. Where is this attitude coming from, I wondered as we sat in silence. He was never like this when we were younger, getting mad over something so minor.
“How do I get to the house?” His voice brought me out of my thoughts.
“You know where the strip is? Go to the second street after you pass the strip and turn left and Jace’s house is the second one on the right. I’m sure you will be able to tell which one it is, it will most likely have millions of cars in front of it and tons of people standing around outside.”
He followed my directions in silence, and pulled onto the curb next to another car a few yards away from Jace’s house. “Alright, we are here.”
We both got out of the car and began walking towards the front of the huge house. Once we passed the gates Kyrie came running over pulling Riley along with her, “You made it Gabriella!”
“Yes I made it, Kyrie, Riley this is Cayden, Cayden this is Kyrie and her boyfriend Riley,” I introduced them pointing at them as I said their names.
“It’s nice to meet you finally Cayden, Gabs has told me a lot about you,” Kyrie said as she went to shake his hand. Her smile was fake though, she really isn’t impressed with him. I had to stifle a giggle.
“Good to meet you dude,” Riley also took his hand a shook it.
“Nice to meet you both. So Gabriella talks about me a lot huh?” He smiled at Kyrie, eyebrows raised.
She blushed as she realized that she just admitted I talk about him a lot and slowly replied, “Uh yea, she’s told me about when you guys were younger but that’s about it.”
