Chapter 39

Nancy Pov

I stood there in shock and just held back my tears.

" What are you doing here? " I said calmly.

" Just wishing baby girl a happy birthday. " he said waving at Natalie.

" Don't ever speak to my little girl , you understand me? If you EVER talk to her I will make sure you die this time , four bullets in your fucking head and 5 in your bitch ass chest. " I said covering Natalie's ears as Audrey covered Aubrey's.

" So that's how it is.. ? " he said stepping toward me.

Nate cocked his gun and held it to his forehead.

" Chill.. Just having a conversation. " he said calmly.

He spoke too calm in his voice and it was freaking me out. On the outside I was solid as a rock , on the inside I was breaking the fuck apart. Stressing the hell out and tearing my heart to shreds.

" Cover your ears. " I told Natalie.

She hurried and covered her ears as did Aubrey and I spoke.

" Lavell, Get the fuck out of my house , you're not shit to me and I don't even see why you bothered to look me in the face 2 years later. You should be locked up or in a fucking grave by now , but you're standing in my face talking to me. Get the fuck out , don't speak to my kids EVER. I hope you rot in hell. " I spat at him.

" I have a beach house there , you should swing by sometime. " he said winking and leaving.

He left and the room was just awkwardly silent. Ever one stared every where else before Nate spoke out.

" Hey uhm... I'm sorry about the incident , the party's over for now but we can reschedule next weekend. Thanks for coming and thanks for the gifts. " Nate said rubbing the back of his head and waving goodbye to the people leaving.

" Feel free to take a slice of cake. " he said sincerely.

I cut Natalie a slice of cake and everyone else took a piece and left. After everyone left Nate and I just sat there awkwardly.

" How does he know where we live... " I said bouncing my knee and clenching my fingers nervously.

" I don't know baby.. I thought that nigga was dead. " Nate said rubbing his hand through his hair.

" Well he's not , and he knows where we live , who my daughter is , and how did he even know we were having a party? " I cried. Nate held my hands and rubbed my back.

" Baby don't take it the wrong way , and don't think I don't hurt about the situation , but baby girl , it's been two years Nancy , you have to let it g-- " I cut him off.

" Two LONG ass years Nate. Before that I got raped by a drug dealer , a bunch of guys , and by your best friend. So don't you EVER fucking tell me to get over it. " I screamed at him with tears rolling down my face.

" Nancy I'm , baby I'm sor-- " he said trying to hug me.

I pushed his arms out of the way and walked quickly up the stairs and went to our room and slammed the door shut and cried myself to sleep.

Nathaniel Pov

I done fucked up. Shit , she gone be mad for the longest of time for this one. I tip toed upstairs and twisted the door open. I saw her laying on the bed with her knees in her chest and dried tears on her cheeks. Gotta go fix this shit and fast.

Nancy Pov

Nate , Natalie and I got in the family car and drove to Walmart. We get , there go inside and just look for what we need , which we're not sure of.

The doors are bombarded and the other customers scream and cry as I grip my daughter and husbands hand and try to hide.

" Nancy Jones .. " the intruder says over the speaker.

I stay in the back and grip Natalie's hand as Nate put his hand over my head and waited.

" If you don't come. You'll never see your daughter again. "

I looked over at Nate and felt my hands sweat and my heart pound.

" I have to go. " I said kissing him , then kissing her forehead.

" Mommy loves you baby , I promise. I love you and daddy and I won't let anything happen to you. " I say crouching down to her as two guys with guns come behind me.

I tensed up as they gripped my shoulders and pulled me to the check out where the person was calling me.

" Nancy , sweet Nancy. " he said caressing my face.

" Wait. What do you want. " I said closing my eyes tightly as his hands roamed my face and felt heavy breathing on my neck , not able to see him.

" You know I want you. " he whispered in my ear.

" I can't do this. I just can't. " I said trying to leave him. He gripped my wrist and guns were pointed at me.

" Be smart Nancy. " he said calmly.

" I can't do this. I love my family , and my daughter. "

" mommy ! " Natalie screamed.

She ran up to me and hugged my legs. Someone picked her up and carried her away.

" PUT HER DOWN , LEAVE HER ALONE. PLEASE. " I cried trying to run from him. Nate came from the back and chased after them until someone tackled him and put a gun to his head.
" you love your family and that's why I can't have you , so no more of this family. " he whispered in my ear.

" wait , wait please. " I cried.

I heard a five gun shots go off and my heart shattered. I fell to my knees and bawled my eyes out.

I ran over to my husband and my daughter and held them lifeless my arms.

I woke up drenched in sweat and tears in my eyes. I quickly hopped up and went into Natalie's room and saw her sprawled across the bed. I kissed her forehead and ran to Nate. I saw him sitting in the kitchen with his hands over his face. I ran over to him and hugged him and cried.

Even though he said some truly , hurtful shit. I am grateful for my family , and don't care what anyone has to say.
