"Hey Maggie." Jake appeared at my side,
"Hello Jacob." I said, not bothering to hide my bitterness,
"So, I saw you working with Jester and Lexi yesterday..."
"Oh yeah, did you see me showing Lexi how 'loco' Buckley is?" Anger filled me,
"Look, Maggie," He grabbed my arm and turned me to face him, I winced as his fingers gripped into my arm harder, "I didn't mean it, so quit bringing it up!" He yelled, I shied away from him, like a horse from a whip,
"Let go of me Jacob! You don't get it!" I yelled back at him, being hit with an adrenaline rush,
"No Maggie, you're right. I don't get it! Do you care explaining it to me now?" He backed down, only slightly,
"That horse means the world to me! More than the world! More than that, if that's possible! He is my everything, and he will always be mine until the day death separates us. That horse is the only thing that links me to my mother. My dead mother. That you also brought up!" I paused for a giant breath, "You say you love me, that I am your everything, and yet, you still bring up the one thing I don't speak of?! I don't know what the fuck your definition of love is, but this isn't mine!" Another breath, "And before you say it, I will choose when I talk about mum, not you. So either you apologise to me, or this," I broke, a tear fell onto my cheek in time with one from his brown eyes, "This is over." He stood in front of me, not moving, not speaking, just crying for what seemed like such a long time,
"Maggie, I don't want this to be over," He crumbled, "I-I do love you," He stepped closer, I stepped back, not willing to take this as an apology, "I didn't mean to push you, I should have known..."
"Yeah, you should have." I interrupted coldly,
"And I really do now! Please Maggie, give me another chance?" He pleaded, "Give us another chance?"
"I don't know about this Jacob, how can I be sure you won't hurt me again?" I said truthfully,
"You can trust me. You can trust me to never do anything to hurt you, ever again." He answered in a know-it-all tone,
"I, I don't know Jacob!" I covered my face with my hands, when I finally pulled them away a few seconds later Jake was on his knees, literally, "Get up," I sighed, putting my hand out to help him to his feet, "You are cute, and I really, really like you. So I am willing to give this - us - a go," He pulled me closer with my hand still in his, "Only if you agree to three conditions!" He nodded eagerly,
"Anything Maggie, I mean anything!"
"One; you never insult Buckley again," He nodded, "Two; you don't press me to talk about my mum," Nod, "And three; you promise to never make me cry again?" I asked softly, looking downward,
"Maggie, I promise to keep those three conditions until the day I die. And I will die before I let you cry ever again," He lifted my face with two fingers under my chin, "And I also promise to love you until the day I take my last breath." He pressed his lips to mine softly, I allowed him to do so, suddenly feeling the need to feel loved.
