Miranda's POV

Today we were celebrating the twins', Avery and Mason's, second birthday. I finished setting up for the party, when Blake walked into the room with Avery in his arms and Mason following behind them. "Hey cuties," I said. Blake set Avery down and her and Mason ran into the fmaily room. "Hey gorgeous," Blake said before he kissed my cheek. "Hi handsome," I said.

"Can I ask you something?" Blake asked. "Sure baby," I said. "Can I invite Adam?" Blake asked. I thought about it. Ever since Sutton left Adam, she had been on a great path, Adam, not so much. After him and Sutton broke up, Adam settled for drugs. He smoked weed daily and drank a lot. His reputation was on a downward spiral. His band and The Voice were close to cutting him off. He was a mess. Sutton had no idea. She removed Adam from her life and refused to hear about anything about him.

"Blake, I don't know if that's a good idea," I said. "Why?" Blake asked. "You know exactly why. He's going to end up bringing drugs and he's going to get drunk." I said. "If he smokes it outside, it'll be fine," Blake said. "Have you not thought about how your daughter will react to seeing him?" I asked. "She'll be fine. She's happily married." Blake said.

Sutton married a man named Brody last year. A week after Sutton left Adam, she met Brody and the immediately hit it off. 3 months later they were engaged and 9 months after that, they were married. Brody is only 3 years older than Sutton, which the rest of the family was ecstatic about.

"Blake, I don't want her to leave the party upset because she saw Adam," I said. "She won't. I'll just make sure Adam doesn't try to talk to her," Blake said. "Good luck with that. For 3 months, Adam called and texted Sutton. You think that him seeing her won't cause him to run up to her and beg for her back?" I said. "He'll be fine," Blake said. "Whatever, but if our daughter runs out of here in tears, it's your fault," I said. "Whatever," Blake said before he texted Adam telling him about the party.

Suddenly I heard the front door open and little footsteps running into the kitchen. "Mamaw!" A little girl shouted as she waddled over to me. "Hey baby," I said as I picked her up. "Hey momma," Sutton said as she walked in with Brody. "Hey sweetie," I said. "Devyn, did you say hi to grandma?" Sutton asked the little girl in my arms. "Hi Mamaw," She said. "Hey cutie. Why don't you go say hi to Papaw and Avery and Mason?" I said as I set her down and she ran over to Blake.

"Sorry momma, she's just a little ball of energy today," Sutton said as she hugged me. "It's ok. That's how girls can be sometimes. You were just like that at her age. She clearly takes after her momma," I said. "Yes she sure does," Brody said as he wrapped his arm around Sutton and kissed her cheek.

"Mommy! Mommy!" Devyn shouted as she ran to Sutton. "Yes baby?" Sutton asked. "Can I play outside with Papaw and Avery and Mason?" She asked. "Sure baby," Sutton said before she kissed Devyn's head and she ran outside with Blake and the twins.

Adam's POV

I was sitting on my bed smoking a blunt and drinking a beer when Blake texted me. He said that the twin's birthday party was in 10 minutes and he wanted me to come. Miranda wouldn't let me go to their first birthday party, but Blake convinced her to let me come to this one. I thought about it for about 30 minutes. The only plus side to going would be to see Sutton.

I stamped out the blunt and chugged the rest of my beer. I tossed on a white t-shirt that had a few holes with a pair of jeans and my combat boots. I grabbed my leather jacket and gelled my hair. I grabbed a few blunts and my lighter and stuffed them in my jacket pocket.

I grabbed my keys and got in my car. I sped off. I hadn't seen Sutton since the day she left me. After she left, my life spun into hell. I resorted to weed and alcohol. The band and NBC are close to cutting me off. I hadn't been with a single woman since Sutton. I couldn't. I was still madly in love with her. But I was a fucking mess. Ever since I found out she got married, my life got much worse.

I barely ever left the house unless it was for work. I was high almost all the time. I was drunk most of the time too. I felt like shit and I just didn't care anymore. I reached Blake's house and saw well over 40 cars already there. I finally found a parking spot and made my way to the house.

I walked inside and people started giving me weird looks. Fucking great. Everyone knew that every since Sutton, my life had turned to shit. I didn't even care. I walked into the kitchen and saw Blake. "Hey Shelton," I said. "Hey Levine, glad you could make it," Blake said. "Wouldn't miss it," I said as I started to look for Sutton. "She's in the backyard, Adam." Blake said. "What?" I asked him. "Sutton. She's in the backyard." He said. "Oh," I said as I looked through the windows and saw Sutton with some guy who must be her husband.

"I'd rather have you with her," Blake said. "Really?" I asked him. "Yeah. Her husband is an annoying kiss ass," Blake said. I chuckled. "At least you spoke your mind. All he does is say what I want to hear. He's so damn annoying. But Sutton loves him and she's my daughter, so I have to pretend to like him," Blake said before he patted my back and walked away.

I walked through the house then suddenly felt something run into me. I looked down and saw a little girl that looked a little over a year old. "Hi," She said. "Hi," I said. I looked at her facial features. She looked an awful lot like...

"Devyn!" I heard Sutton shout. I looked up and met Sutton's eyes. "Adam," She said. "Sutton," I said. "Mommy!" The little girl exclaimed as she ran to Sutton. Mommy? No way this little girl was Sutton's daughter. She hasn't been with her husband that long. I did the math in my head. There was only one explanation.

This little girl was my daughter.
