Adam's POV

"Sutton, I..." I said before some guy interrupted me. "Hey babe," He said to Sutton before he kissed her cheek. "Hi," He said when he turned to face me. "Hi," I said. "Oh, your Adam Levine," The guy said. "Yeah," I said. "I'm Brody, Sutton's husband," He said. "Nice to meet you," I lied. "Same. I'm a big fan," He said. I gave him a small smile and looked at Sutton. She had a blank face.

"I'm gonna go get another beer," Brody said before he kissed Sutton's cheek and walked back into the yard. "Who's he mommy?" Devyn asked as she pointed at me. Sutton stood there for a second before picking her daughter up. "He's Papaw's friend. No one important," She said before she went back into the yard with Devyn.

That hurt. No one important? I'm only her fucking father.

I saw Blake sitting on the couch, so I walked over to him and sat next to him. "Blake?" I said. "Yeah?" He asked. "When did Sutton get pregnant?" I asked. Blake looked at me with curiosity. "I'm just asking. I want to know how fast she got over me." I said. "Well her and Brody started dating the week after she left you and then 2 weeks after that she found out she was pregnant," He said. "Blake, is there any question in your mind that Devyn is my daughter?" I asked him. "Are you fucking nuts?" Blake asked.

"Blake, I saw that little girl. She has Sutton's hair and her facial features, but Brody and Sutton both have blue eyes. Devyn has hazel eyes like me." I said. "Will you just stop? If Devyn was your daughter, Sutton would have told you," He said. "No she wouldn't have," I said. "If you didn't sleep with my daughter in the first place, you would be in a good place right now and you wouldn't be a complete fucking mess," Blake said before he got up and left me.

I saw Sutton walk into the kitchen. I got up and walked over to her. "Sutton," I said as I approached her. "What do you want Adam?" She asked. "Can we talk?" I asked her. "You did enough talking 2 years ago," She said before she started to walk away. "Sutton, wait," I said as I grabbed her wrist. "Let go Adam," She said. "Not until you talk to me," I said. "Get your blunt holding, beer holding, disgusting ass hand off of my wrist," She said. I let go of her wrist and watched her walk away.

That hurt. Again. She hated me. She didn't want anything to do with me. I grabbed my keys out of my jacket pocket and left the party. I couldn't stand here, knowing that the woman I love is standing right outside with a girl that is most likely my daughter.

Sutton's POV

Adam knew. I know he figured it out. He wouldn't ask to talk to me unless he figured it out. I walked into the backyard and saw Brody pushing Devyn on the swingset. He was such a great father to her. Why would I ruin everything by telling him that Adam is her real father? So that Adam can smoke weed and drink around her? No.

I would never let Adam back into my life, much less Devyn's until he got back on a good path. His life was turning to shit. Sure if I told him that Devyn was his daughter, he might get himself together, but there are no guarentees. The only person besides me that knew about Adam being Devyn's father was my mom. I needed to talk to her after the party.

2 hours later, we finished cleaning up from the party. My dad and Brody were in the backyard playing with Avery, Mason, and Devyn. I walked into the kitchen and stood across from my mom. "Momma? Can I talk to you?" I asked her. "Sure baby," She said.

"Momma, I think Adam knows." I said. "What?" She asked. "Devyn accidentally ran into him and she saw me and said Momma. I saw Adam thinking. He later asked me if we could talk. He knows," I said. "Sweetie, don't ruin the perfectly good thing you have. You and Brody are happy together and are good parents to Devyn. Look at Adam's life. You really think putting him in Devyn's life is a good thing?" She said. "But whatif I told him and he got back on a good path? She deserves her father," I said. "Sweetie, she thinks Brody is her father and Brody thinks he is her father. Don't ruin the amazing thing you have," She said.

"Ok," I said. I walked into the family room and pulled my phone out of my pocket. Right at the top of my contact list was Adam. I clicked on his name and the phone started ringing.

"Hello?" He said. "Meet me at Starbucks in an hour." I said. "Sutton?" He asked. "And if you bring drugs or alcohol, I'm never speaking to you again," I said. "Ok, bye," He said. "Bye," I said before I hung up my phone. "Momma, can you tell Brody that I had to go run some errands and I'll be home later," I said. "Sure baby," She said. We said goodbye and I left.

I went home and changed into a blue tank top romper and slipped on a pair of blue strappy sandals. I put my hair into a messy bun and put my phone in my pocket. I grabbed my keys to my Range Rover and headed to Starbucks.
