My feet connected with the concrete of the parking lot in front of the local police station. The FBI team working on the Franklin Lucas case had been stationed there for a few days before finding the break through that they needed: me. Mrs. Erikson met me at the head of the car and placed her hand on my back. Almost like she was afraid of me running away. I admit I was not happy about returning to the station but I wasn't going to run. That was y chance to start over and I wasn't about to give it up.
As we entered through the front doors, I noticed a small change in Mrs. Erikson's demeanor as a table of coffee and donuts came into view.
I spotted Agent Destin standing above a desk and pointing at something that was placed on the desk. He glanced up and noticed my arrival, nudging a man standing next to him.
"Hello Ryder, Mrs. Erickson. This is my partner, Agent Wood." He said as he approached us. The other man, Agent Wood, shook Mrs. Erikson's hand then turned to me.
"It's very nice to meet you, Ryder." I already didn't like him. He talked to me as though I was a deaf little girl or something, speaking louder and slower than necessary, even though if I was deaf it wouldn't have made any difference.
"So, Ryder, I arranged for Sheriff Stilinski to come pick you and he should be here in less lan thirty minutes so if you would like to wait here, there are some refreshments available to you."
I nodded and stared at the three adults in front of me. They all stared back until they realized that that was as much as a response as they were gonna get from me. The agents then proceeded to walk back to the desk and Mrs. Erikson led me to the same chairs that I had been seated the previous night.

I glanced at the clock that hang on the wall again. This sheriff guy was ten minutes late. Not a very good first impression of the guy that was supposed to take care of me. I shot a glare in the direction of Mrs. Erikson, who was annoyingly munching on a donut and moaning like it was they best thing she had ever tasted.
Finally, the door opened beside me and a guy were a standard, small town sheriff's uniform walked in. He pushed the sun glasses up from his eyes and onto his head. I could tell he had no idea what I looked like by the way he cluelessly glanced around the station. Eventually, he turned his head in my direction.
"Are you Ryder?" I stood up and met him halfway.
"Yes, sir. It's nice to meet you." I shook his hand. I had no idea what made me be so nice to this stranger but something about him just screamed "nice guy".
"Well, I'm Sheriff Stilinski but you can call me Noah." He noticed my bag on the ground between us and picked it up. "Is all you have?" He seemed surprised.
I nodded in response, somewhat embarrassed.
"I'll go ahead and take this to the car." I could see the sympathy in his eyes.
