Chapter 15 Friends now

Tris P.O.V

I came back to the cave and saw Katniss and Peeta lying next to each other,sleeping. it made me feel bad a one point about Four, how i cant see him now, but i dismiss the thought because it only makes me feel worse about myself. how I could have save him. And how its my fault hes captured.

'hey, guys wake up.'

i gently shake Katniss and then Peeta, they both move around still very tired. as soon as Katniss opens her eyes, she sits up straight right away.

'You should have woke me! you could have fallen asleep and then no one will be keeping watch!'

She scalded me with the death stare and her eyes were looking straight into mine. She looked straight into my eyes ( which kind looked intimidating not gonna lie, but i cant make myself look weak) i just look at her with my best 'it was fine' face and say,

'well, nothing happend, so you cant say anything' but this only ticks her off even more.

'but you never know what could have happend! Where did you get those!?' She looks down and sees the rabbits that i caught next to me. Great, now i have to explain how it was OK leaving her and Peeta but i have no time for that so i just keep quiet.

'Guys, just calm down. Were all still here, so lets not get on each others nerves when we are supposed to watch each others back. Thanks for the food Tris that was really thought full of you.'

Peeta bursts in our argument at the perfect time when i saw Katniss getting really annoyed. I smile a little when I hear.

Attention, tributes. Attention. Commencing at sunrise, there will be a feast tomorrow at the Cornucopia. This will be no ordinary occasion, each of you need something desperately and we plan to be generous hosts.

i look at Katniss and i see her immediately standing up when i stand up too.

'where are you going?'

Peeta sits up looking worried. i can tell he doesnt want her to go.

'you need this medicine and you cant walk. Tris, you say her with Peeta and watch over him,

'No! Katniss you cant go! i wont let you! I'll never be able to live myself if you get killed! you cant go!'

i can see Peeta starts to cry about his love leaving and there being a chance of being killed. i think its rather sweet what hes talking about. Katniss bends down and looks straight into his eyes.

'Peeta, I cant let you die when there is a chance that i can save you. If I don't take that, then I don't know what do do anymore..'

She kisses him softly on the lips and as soon as she does so, I'm really tempted to just turn away but I'm didn't.

'Tris, you stay with Peeta and look after him'

'Ok' I say not knowing what I said until just now. Well now I'm here with Peeta without Katniss.

This'll be fun.

She leaves and I turn to Peeta who is looking up at me.

Without knowing it I say,

' I know,how you feel about her. You love her. Don't you?'

He stays quiet and I know that I just broke something of his that he wanted no one to know.

Peeta's P.O.V

Oh snap. She's giving me the death stare and I can't go anywhere.
But I don't deny that I love Katniss down to bits. With all my heart

'Yeah, its true that I love her,'
I regret saying this as she turns away as soon as I said the word 'love' I know why. She's thinking about Four

'I'm sorry Tris, about Four. But when you finish this. You'll get to see him again. I'm sure of it.'

She say sniffing
'You sure?'

I nod
'But how do you know that I'm going to win? I mean I barely know this place.'

Did she really just say that? How can I win like this? Even more so, Ill never be able to live with myself if Katniss died.
She looked at me and said nothing. I think she got the message.

I need to break this awkward silence.
'What was it like back home? What did you do to get to the point that you are now'

She turns and sits down in front of me.
'Well, I grew up in a place called 'factions'. I chose Dauntless which stands for bravery. We did a lot of training. We lived like birds in a cage. We got to the point where she were able to leave. I ran to a different direction when I saw something move in the distance. I got lost and that's when I found Katniss'

'Wow, you seem like you had a rough time. I'm sorry'

'Don't be. I made friends here now too you know, you and Katniss'

Wow. She sees me as her friend. I've done nothing to deserve that.I simle at her and she smiles back. It's nice to know her like Prim. Just like a friend.
After a while, Tris shakes her head a little and says:
'I'm gonna go outside for a bit, very some fresh air. If you need anything then just give me a yell'
I smile a little 'ok'
'Ok' she smiles back, turns around and climbs out the cave.
