Chapter 21 Different stories

Tris P.O.V

I wake up yo see a light blinding me even though I expected nothing less. What happened? All I remember is me being extremely tiered after I was with Peter in a room. He was showing me what he found out even though he said that he would just strap me to a chair or something. I was not listening for most of the time anyway.

When I force myself to sit up my mouth drops open to where I am,

An immaculate room. It has whit walls and furniture. Beside a wall is a table-filled with food that makes my mouth water-, a white chair desk, a bookshelf and a rack that is supposed to be for clothes but only has one hanger. It has a set of clothes and I assume they're for me judging by their size and how they look.

When I stand up I notice that a very thin fabric is covering me but I'm not naked. My skin burns like I just did the salt and ice challenge. What did they do to me GOD to make my skin like this!?

I barely up without straining and moaning because of the pain changed and sit down back on the bed thinking about what to do next and where to go.

I think about the other people left behind, the Dauntless compound and the good days with my friends-

Not soon after, Caleb walks in. Followed by Tori and Christina.

'How are you feeling Beatrice?'

Beatrice, a name that I haven't heard in a while and quite enjoy hearing it again. I forget that I still need to answer and see them all staring at me desperate for an answer.

'Like you'd expect me to.' I say back flatly. 'Whats gonna happen now? Whats going on?' After I asked those questions, Tori and Christina both look at Caleb as if they rehearsed this before and my brother forgot his lines. In that case, my eyes turn to him for an answer.

I watch Tori sit on the desk and Christina grabbing an apple from the table before falling down on a chair herself. Caleb sits next to me and takes my hands. They're soft but not the same as Four's.

He looks me in the eye and says softly. 'Beatrice, They're going to break him. Four. They are going to put him in a sim to torture him.'

My heart drops to the bottom of my body.

I only manage to stutter. 'Wha....Th...thats impossible they dont know how to do that. Were way smarter than them. They'd never.....-'

'They do have the tech on how to scan someones brain., He refused to talk but they scanned his brain and it showed them the info they needed.' Tori said before Caleb even opened his mouth.

'And is there anything else I may need to know?' I need to know everything now and this time its Christina to talk.

'It's like the fear landscape in initiation but then also the sim that you were in not too long ago remember?'

'What kind of question is that? Of course I remember! And then what are they doing to do with that? Like,why?' I don't know what has gotten in these people.

'Entertainment.' Tori says and i don't think i need to hear anything else. I stay quiet for a moment but then think of an idea.

'I need to get out of here.' I say finally,

'Well it not just a hop and a skip through the front door, you are constantly being seeking out and to know about home. We have to think this through' Then she tells me the plan to get me out without getting caught.

Afetrwards when they all leave Christina turns around and says
'When are we actually gonna be able to rest?'
We both laugh weakly and then she leaves leaving me alone in the room again waiting for something to happen because there is nothing else to do.

Peeta P.O.V

Katniss and I are on the train back to district 12. I can't wait to go home but I dont think Katniss thinks the same thing because she is very distant. Even more than before she found out what happend probably because she has so much on her mind she might explode and I wish that I could do something to help her but I dont think she wants it.

I sit alone looking at my plate I ordered for no reason because I'm not even that hungry. It has a pancake on it with vanilla ice cream and Nutella. I've only had some of it once but completely fell in love with it.

I'm just sit there until I find the courage to go to Katniss' room and talk to her 1-because it's not good to distance yourself from everyone even when you hear bad news. And 2- because I miss her. Like a lot. I miss her wonderful smile even though I don't have a chance because she probably goes with Gale.

Standing in front of her door is one of the most scariest things I've ever done before. Expecting a beating from my mom, or even the games are nothing compared to this.
I raise my hand when the she opens it herself and looks extremely tired and worn out. Her eyes are puffy and red.
'Katniss we need to talk,'

I finally say after scanning her perfect and beautiful face. She doesn't say anything but only goes back to the corner of the room and has an ice pack on her head. I walk in and ask her what happens but she just whispers that she needs it to cool down.

'What's on your mind? You can tell me,'
I sit down next to her and after a while she leans her head on my shoulder, I freeze at her touch but also force myself to stay calm and strong for her. She's so skinny, I put my arm around her slowly and can feel all her bones it scares me and breaks my heart to see her like this.

'Peeta, you don't understand. Now I've done one thing, another comes. I'm not like human 2.0. I thought that now I'd be safe. You'd be safe and everyone else. So many things to worry about still and I just can't take this anymore.'

I put my hand user her chin and turn her head to look at me. I'm going to let her know how I feel but not too much.

'Then I'll take it for you. I'll keep you safe. You are perfect and strong. Take it easy and relax so you can focus anyone thing at a time,' I think that was good enough.

'Really? You really think so about me?'
I look at her and nod my head.

'Thank you,' I can see that it night time well, not exactly but we're gonna be in 12 tomorrow so I ask her if she want to go to sleep. I'm getting ready to stand up but she just puts her head back on my shoulder and closes her eyes.

'Umm Katniss?' I say with a lump in my throat

'Hmm?'

'Could I go to my room for a sec and come back?' She lifts her head from my shoulders indicating I can go.

I run to my room and almost slam into the wall. All I really wanted to do it change my clothes because they were very uncomfortable sitting like that. I also got a blanket mind you, we were still in the corner but I expect her to have moved to the bed.

I get back and her position is unchanged which takes me by surprise. Anyways, I sit down next to her and pull the blanket over only her. But she pulls it so I get some too. She is so kind and generous even when she's like this.

she leans against me and we both fall asleep waiting for tomorrow.
