Chapter 1:

My phone rang loudly, causing me to fall off my bed. I groaned and grabbed my phone. I pressed answer without checking who the called was. "Hello." I answered. "Hey Aria." The voice from the other line said. It was my cousin, more like older brother, Kenneth. "What's up?" I asked, trying to not sound sleepy.

"Just wondering if you picked Maria up from her ballet lesson?"

I widened my eyes and looked at the clock. It was 1:10PM and Maria's ballet lesson ended 10 minutes ago. ' Crap. Kenneth's gonna kill me for not picking up his daughter.' I thought.

"Ri? You still there?" Kenneth's voice came from the other line. "Y-Yeah. She's umm..." I quickly thought up of a lie. "She's just taking a nap." Such an obvious lie. "Well okay. I'll be home in about an hour." He replied. "Okay see you." I quickly said then hung up the phone. Luckily he believed the lie.

I rushed straight into the bathroom and threw on a pair of denim shorts and a grey shirt. I practically flew down the stairs as I hurried to fix my long coffee brown hair and shove my keys and phone into my pocket. I slipped on my grey converse while I hopped on one foot and locked the door. Maria's ballet studio was just two blocks away so I decided to run.

I was about to run across a road when a car appeared out of nowhere. Luckily it didn't hit me. I cursed under my breath and shouted, "WATCH WHERE YOURE GOING STUPID HEAD!" I continued to sprint down the street and bursts through the doors of the ballet studio.

"Maria?" I called out. A woman in yoga pants and a tank too appeared. "Hello, I'm the ballet teacher Mrs. Joseph. How may I help you?" She smiled. "Uh. My niece Maria Carson. I was supposed to pick her up here.." I replied. "Oh you're her aunt! I'm sorry. A boy about your age came in and took her. She ran up to him and I assumed she knew him so I let her go." My heart stopped. Panic started to take over my emotions. "Wh-who was the boy?" I shakily asked. "I don't know his name but he was tall. Blonde hair. Blue eyes."

Tall. Blonde hair. Blue eyes. I let out a small sigh of relief. My anxiety hasn't gone away fully yet. "Thank you." I said and walked out. I pulled out my phone and dialed my best friends number. On the 4th ring he answered.

"Hey I was wondering when you were going to call."

I couldn't help but smile at the sound of his voice. "Luke is-" I started to speak but he cut me off. "Don't worry Maria's with me. I decided to pick her up while I was picking up my cousin. I didn't see you and Hanna and Maria wanted to play so I took her. Sorry I should told you." He answered. I could tell he wanted to burst out laughing. "I'm coming to pick Maria up." I stated. "Okay." He chuckled after and I hung up.
