Aria's POV:
It's been about 2 months since Renna and Ashton's wedding. They plan to be on a honeymoon until fall. Of course Chloe is with them.
I moved in with Luke now. I still go back to the apartment Kiyah and I share but that's once in a while. Calum and Natalie are closer than ever, always together and stuff.
Luke has been sweeter than ever, always taking me out and having food laughs just like old times, but lately Luke's been coming home drunk. I try to understand him but its getting real tiresome having to take care of him every time he comes home like that. Especially when he starts cursing my name.
~
Luke went out with his friends this afternoon but I made sure Calum brought him home before 10. I didn't want him doing anything to make him get wasted again so I put him under house arrest.
I got home from my part time job and walked into the house. Luke was munching on his bag if chips when I walked in.
"Hey!" I greeted, happy to see that he wasn't drunk. But I gained no response, he just stared straight at the TV.
"How was your day out with Mikey and Cal?" I asked as I reached into his bag for a chip. I chewed slowly as I waited for an answer. All Luke did was shrug and stuff more chips into his mouth. "Where did you guys go?" I asked, trying to start a conversation. Luke didn't respond.
"Luke? Are you okay?" I asked. Luke balked up his fists and got up and started for his room. "Luke are you okay? I'm trying to talk to you but you keep ignoring me. Did something happen?" I asked. I reached out to and placed my hand on his shoulder.
Luke turned to me, anger filled his eyes. "Leave me the fuck alone." He spat. "What the hell Luke? What's your problem?" I asked. "You! Just leave me the hell alone. You're so clingy and all I just want is to watch my damn TV show but I can't even do that without you interrupting me! You're so annoying! Why don't you just hang out with your friends instead of me 24/7!" Luke screamed.
I opened my mouth to speak but I choked back my words. "I-"
"You what Aria?" Luke asked angrily. I looked away and I shook my head. "Nothing."
Luke scoffed and stormed out of the apartment.
Finally I exhaled. I didn't know I was holding my breath until now. I suddenly felt the tears rushing down my face. This isn't the Luke I knew. Slowly I fell to my knees and let the tears fall.
Without thinking, I got up and changed into some jean and a plain shirt. I stuffed any of my clothes that I could find into my backpack and rushed out. I slammed the door behind me and walked downstairs.
I drove to the apartment Kiyah and I shared and walked in. I knew Kiyah rarely came here like me so I was okay. I parked my car a few blocks down the street just in case anyone might come and see my car parked outside.
A new set of tears rushed down my face as I threw myself on to my bed. I hugged my knees and sobbed as loud as I could, not caring if my neighbors heard me.
Crying must've taken up my energy because in a few minutes I fell asleep.
~
It was 11 now when I woke up. I was going to check my phone but then I realized that I turned it off for a reason.
I quickly walked into the bathroom and changed into some pajamas.
I sat on the couch with a blanket wrapped around me and turned on the TV.
Just then I heard a pounding on the door. As I wondered who it was I got up to open the door.
There stood Calum holding bags full of ice cream and movies. I stood staring at him.
"Aren't you going to let me in?" Calum asked.
I stepped aside without a word and he came in, setting the bags on the table in the kitchen.
"Where's Natalie?" I asked.
"With her family." Calum replied.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I know what happened. Luke was telling me about it over the phone and he still hasn't come to his senses that he was wrong. And I know because you're like my sister." Calum answered.
I walked over to hug him. I cried into his chest as he hugged me and told me to stop crying.
"Come on. Lets just take our minds off of the world for a while." Calum smiled at me and we got ourselves out own scoops of ice cream and pushed in the movie, "The Purge"
~
For the next 2 hours, Calum and I have been enjoying ourselves, stuffing our faces with ice cream and our expressions when we jumped at the jumpscares. We probably finished 2 gallons of ice cream by the end of the movie.
"Ugh I feel fat!" I laughed. "Let's go to the gym tomorrow." Calum suggested. We stared at each other and broke out into laughter. "You really think I would go." I said in between laughs.
"What am I going to do now?" I laughed, looking around the room and observing the mess we made.
The bowls were everywhere, the DVDs were scattered, two buckets of ice cream were tipped over, tissues everywhere and pillows and blankets all over the place as we tried to make ourselves comfortable.
Calum and I laid under our blanket fort and looked up at our "ceiling"
"So tell me what happened with you and Luke, from your perspective." Calum said. "Well Dr. Phil. Luke lashed out at me as I tried being nice. I don't even know what I did wrong because I just got home." I explained. Calum nodded his head.
"Luke is probably under a lot of stress so try to understand him." Calum said. "I have been. Ever since he's been getting drunk." I sighed. "I'm sure Luke will come around sooner or later." Calum smiled at me encouragingly. "Thanks for being there Cal." I said. "No problem." He said.
Just then there was a pounding on the door. "Who could be here? It's 2am." I said. Calum shrugged and went to answer the door. I laid motionless as I tried to listen to who was at the door. I couldn't really hear so I just decided to wait for Calum to come back.
"Aria come here!" Calum called. I lifted myself up and walked to the door. "What?" I asked. Then I saw who was at the door.
Luke.
But what is he doing here so late. I had no desire to see him. And I don't understand why he's here.
"Aria." Luke started but I cut him of. "What?" I snapped. "Please just hear me out." Luke pleaded. I looked at Calum and he got the message. He walked into the living room to give us some privacy.
"Well?" I asked in annoyance. "Aria I'm sorry. I wasn't myself. I couldn't take it, I needed to drink and not drinking drove me insane because I got so used to getting drunk almost everyday." Luke tried to explain but I crossed my arms in from my my chest, showing that I really didn't care.
"Next time you come to apologize, try a better excuse." I advised. I grabbed the door to shut it but he blocked it. "Aria! Stop I love you so much. Don't do this to me." Luke was in tears now.
Now I was looking at him closely. His eyes were red from crying and he was a mess. I kind of felt a little guilty for doing that to him but I shook the thought away.
"Aria I'm sorry." Luke said as he hugged me tightly. I felt his tears fall on to my shoulders. I couldn't help but embrace him also.
