"When are they going to stop!" Bree cries. "It hurts!"

"Maybe when they find and kill us all," Jack shrugs.

"Jack!"

"What?!"

"My theory is that if we get far enough away, they'll just deactivate," Anna announces.

"What's that theory based on?" I grit my teeth and claw at my wrist.

"Speculation and pain!" She storms forward.

"Great, real solid theory then. Definitely dependable!"

Nate laughs and a second later he's gone. Off to check the idea I guess. He returns in less than a minute, and the second he stops beside me I can see that Anna was somehow correct because the blinking blue light has stopped. "I killed it," He laughs. "It is dead."

"Great, none of us can run that fast! We'll be in pain longer," Cara complains.

"Give me a few minutes," Nate winks at her and then scoops me up.

"I was never good with rollercoasters and stuff. What if I die or faint when you run?" I worry.

"Well that will suck if it happens." He shrugs, lifting me up a few inches as he does. "Ready?"

"No, not real–" The breath is stolen from my lungs as he takes off, but before I can register what just happened, I'm back where I was and the blue band on my wrist is back to just being a solid colour. Without any pain.

"Who's next?"

"Me!" Bree whines.

"Yes ma'am," Nate laughs and walks over to her. Standing against her I see how tall he is. I already knew he was tall, actually, he's the second tallest person here, after Jason. But standing against the petite Twelve, he looks like a giant.

"Thank you!" Bree is back again, rubbing her tiny wrist.

"They must be so confused about what's happening," Jason laughs. "Wondering why we're dropping off the map.

"Magic," Jen wiggles her fingers in the air.

"Magic isn't real," I roll my eyes at her statement, but smile anyway.

"I know that! I'm not a complete idiot."

"Aren't you?" Jason asks innocently.

"Aye, says you!" Jen sticks out her tongue.

"Okay Jennifer, your turn," Nate is back again, panting.

"Getting tired there buddy?"

"Me? N-never," He breathes heavily.

"Sure," I smirk. Then he sets off again. At least we're all running in the direction he's going, so everytime he gets back he has a little less of a distance to run. Although he probably doesn't even notice the change.

Eventually all the girls, plus Erik because of his shortness, have their coloured bands fixed.

"I don't know that I can carry you guys," Nate says to Shaun, Jason, and Jack.

"Am I really that fat?" Jason jokes.

"Yes," Nate smirks.

"Would be turning to metal help or hinder?" Jack grins.

"You're going last!" Nate threatens.

"Rude."

"Have you guys heard or seen anyone come look for us yet?" Erik asks.
