Sorry to say that including this chapter, there are four chapters left in this book. 😢
A small sigh pass through my lips as I sat down in the uncomfortable wooden seats that was purposely made for church. It has been years since I went to church willingly and it has been years since I ask for forgiveness. But as I seat in front of the statue, doubt went through my head.
Would he forgive me? Am I worth forgiveness.? Is my mother rolling in her grave? She's probably scorning me from up there. My uncle probably hates me for even thinking about killing his son. My grandparents are probably crying about my fate; red, hot flames.
What's the use of praying to a man that'll sent me to the devil himself?
My hand intertwined my fingers tighter as- what is this, tears!? I'm crying! I quickly wipe them away. But that was no use, since I broke down into more tears and humiliating sobs. My back was hunched over, my arm draped over the other seat as I hid my face.
"AJ?" A familiar feminine voice tinged in my ears. Concern filled her voice as her warm hand rubbed my back in support.
"Mom?" I looked up to see no other than Mrs. Moore. Embarrassing! "Oh, I'm sorry." I quickly wiped my tears.
She gave me a smile before sliding next to me in the uncomfortable booth. "It's okay. Are you okay? Why are you crying?"
"I'm just... It's complicated, I'm sorry. I should go," I tried to stand on my feet but she pulled me back down.
"Can can stay longer? I won't be here long I was just visiting."
I nod. "Oh. Who are you visiting- oh, never mind." A chuckle pass my lips.
"So," she said breaking the short silence. "How's things? How's life? Complicated I presume."
I gave her a simple nod as I looked forward. "I should really go. I have work," I stood on my feet once again, but this time she let me go.
"Are you really going to work after being in church?" She gave me a look; a knowing look. "I know what you do, I'm a lawyer remember."
I was stunned. How does she know? "How? I was never arrested."
"Your cousin was. John. I read his police report and saw your name, saying that a you was caught with a 9mm. Apparently you escaped. Luckily the police didn't bother to investigate you."
"Mrs. Moore-"
"Don't worry, Mr. Moore does not know. He'll never know. Whatever it is you're about to do, make sure Amber is not involved. I don't want to see my only child hurt or heart broken of course."
"Of course. I will never do that to Amber. I'm trying my best to keep her out of things, but you know how she is."
Mrs. Moore chuckled then nod. "Yeah, just like her parents. Always trying to be a savior. Just be careful AJ, I don't want to see you on the news or be your good lawyer and represent you for something that could be avoided."
I sighed then nod. "Bye Mrs. Moore."
"Bye AJ."
I stood in front the large group of men that is rebelling against John and his ways. Big G and DJ stood by my side; ready to get things over with. I for one was not fuzzy about the idea anymore. DJ, Big G and I just found out John made a secret alliance with our rivals; the Sanchez a month ago. While they killed our own, John just stood back and did nothing as his men lost their lives for no reason.
Are plan was set. Since some of the employees are still on John's side, DJ called up some more people; including his cousins.
"Yo, everyone's ready. It's your call." DJ said.
