"2 days until your brother comes home, right?" Drew asked, talking to me over the phone.
"Yeah. I'm glad it's almost over. I'll get to see Tyler soon." I said, biting my lip.
"Is that all you're worried about, Sam? Tyler?"
"No, I miss Josh, too, but I love Tyler so much, even though I know it'll never happen."
"IT already happened." He said, referring to what happened that night on the bus. I looked around as I heard some noise downstairs, but didn't care enough to go look.
"I probably told you too much, Drew. You don't have to be involved in my life."
"It's okay, Sam. I've told you a lot too, but it's because I love you... As a brother." He has told me a lot. Every girl he's ever dated, including his current girlfriend, Natalie.
"I love you, too, Drew." I said, smiling to myself. Just then, I heard someone yell.
"What the fuck, Sam?!" Tyler yelled, coming into my room.
"Holy shit!" I yelled, throwing my phone onto my bed. "You're back!"
"Wow. I'm gone for a few weeks and you replace me? I thought you loved me?" He yelled, throwing a bouquet of flowers to the ground and running off down the stairs.
"Yo, Tyler! What's wrong?" I heard Josh say before the door slammed shut.
"What the hell..." I whispered, trying to completely comprehend what had just happened. I ran downstairs and ran into Josh at the bottom.
"What's up with him?" Josh asked me.
"I don't know. I was just telling Drew that I loved him like a brother and—" I paused, thinking about what he caught of that conversation. "Fuck."
"What?" Josh asked, just as confused as me.
"Where'd he go?" I asked, assuming Josh knew.
"I don't know." He told me, still confused. I started to run after him, but Josh grabbed my arm, making me wince.
"Fuck!" I muttered in pain.
"How did that hurt?" He asked, turning my arm over and looking at my scars and newer cuts. "When did you do that!?"
"IT DOES NOT FUCKING MATTER!" I yelled at Josh. "I HAVE TO GO FIND TYLER!" I was almost in tears, and Josh finally let me go after a few minutes of just looking at me. I ran outside and looked around before running down the street toward the place that he stayed when he wasn't with us. It was more or less Chrissy's house, but Tyler paid for everything. I ran down the sidewalk, searching everywhere for him.
Nowhere.
After a while, I gave up, crying, walking back to my house. Ohio was not save at night, no matter which city you were in. On my way back home, I noticed a figure walking past me in a black hoodie. I instantly knew who it was by the way he walked. I turned around, walking after him. "Tyler." I said, grabbing his shoulder. "Let me explain."
"Explain what?" He asked, stopping walking, but didn't bother to look at me. "How you cheated on me?"
"Tyler!" I said, offended by how he could accuse me of cheating. "I didn't cheat on you! Drew is just my friend!"
"Then why'd you say you love him?" He yelled. "Sam! I thought you only loved me!?"
"I love Drew the same way I love Josh. As a brother." I explained. "I've been talking to Drew for a while and I'm friends with his girlfriend."
"Then how do you love me?" He asked as I stepped in front of him so I could see his face. "Since you throw the word around like it's nothing anyway."
"I love you like..." I tried to find the right way to explain it. "Something more than friends." I said. "Like... I don't know. I've never been in love before, but Tyler, I really think I love you."
"Is it all supposed to be fine now?" He asked, making me even more pissed that he'd ask that.
"Well... KINDA." I said, sarcastically. I threw my arms up and screamed, "Tyler! What else am I supposed to do to fix this? You misunderstood. You walked in at the wrong time! That was your fault. NOT MINE. don't go hating me for what you walked in on." I ranted. "Maybe you should tell me when you're coming home!"
"Why should I?" He asked. "So I don't walk in on you and Drew? Huh? I can't come home to surprise the girl who's brother finally said we could be together? Why? Because she's a cheater?"
"No, Tyler! Stop saying that!" I screamed, crying again. "I would never cheat on you."
"Just let me get some air. I'll be over later." He said, stuffing his hands into his pockets and walking away. I stepped out of his way and let him go, giving up.
If he can just accuse me like that, he doesn't trust me. He can't love me if he doesn't trust me. Maybe separating us WAS better for us. All of us. Tyler and I broke up, and Josh got his way. He wins.
"I GIVE UP." I screamed at Josh as I walked in the door. I slammed it shut, ran upstairs, and locked myself in my room. "It's what they want. They win." I said, grabbing my phone. I texted Drew, Josh, Ashley, and Tyler all the same message.
Then, I got out my razor and didn't cry. I just kept getting deeper and deeper and deeper. Until I couldn't feel anything. I couldn't see anything. I couldn't cause anymore stress. I couldn't make things worse. I just stopped. I blacked out, faintly hearing a ringing in my ears.
*Josh's POV*
"What the fuck?" I asked myself, looking at the text from Sam. "Wha—" I remembered earlier. The scars. The cuts. "Sam!" I yelled, running up the stairs to her room. I heard the door slam. She's in there. "SAM!" I knocked, but no reply. I tried to open the door, but it wouldn't open for anything.
Kick it down. I kicked at the door until it was down. I stepped in, but when I got on the other side, I stopped breathing. My heart stopped beating. My knees fell weak. I crashed onto the floor, numb. I couldn't move. I wanted to, desperately, but I physically and mentally couldn't.
