Saving Me (Frerard)

Chapter 6

The rest of the day went on pretty uneventful. No more run ins with Gerard. I couldn't tell if I was relieved or disappointed. Well, not until the end of school. As I walked back to my locker I noticed there was someone waiting there. Assuming it was Ray I continued on until I could tell that it was Gerard. As soon as I saw him my heart started its 50k run. 

As I approached my locker I blurted out, "Gerard! Hi, what are you doing here? Your locker is all the way across the school." I was stunned. Adrenaline and nervousness surging through my brain I couldn't think straight. I had no idea what to say to this boy so that he wouldn't think I was a creep or that I hated him. "I mean, not that I mind it but.."

"I just wanted to say thanks for helping me out today, I would be so confused without you." He blushed and smiled sheepishly.

"Would you like to come to this local band's concert with Ray, my brother, Mikey, and I, this weekend?" Where the hell did that come from Frank? I thought. I wasn't prepared for him to say no, for him to turn me down like that would be so embarrassing, even though it's not like a real date.

"Sure! That sounds really fun! Where is it? And when?" He seemed excited, like he actually wanted to go.

"It's at Collision, that bar or, club... place on 87th street. It's Saturday at 10. So you'll be there?"

"Of course! I'll see you there!" His eyes sparkled like a child's on christmas morning.

"Great!" I said, even though my head was thinking the exact opposite. "See you!" He flashed me a smile and turned around and strutted his way out of the school building. He had to be straight. Right? But his strutting made me question my preconcieved notions. Now I have to go home and tell Mikey I invited a guy to Collision with us. A guy who I like and who might like me back. I collected my stuff from my locker and started to walk home with an unfamiliar smile on my face.
