The Cure

- Rey's view -

Kylo Ren walks out of my room without a word, moments later, I hear rustling in my kitchen. I hear the clang of pots against pots, and the occasional swear word. What is he doing? I am still too weak to be able to talk, so I have to sit in silence and wonder. Ten minutes later, he enters my room, a large steaming bowl in his hands. He sits next to me, I look into the bowl, he made soup, for me.

"I am not the best chef in the world," he says as he looks at me, "but you need to eat this, my mother used to make it for me all the time when I was sick."

I nod, I still cannot say a word, this silence is killing me, I want to thank him. I want to ask him why, why are you doing this for me?

"Open wide" he says in a playful tone.

Is he feeding me, I tilt my head slightly and stare at him with confusion.

"Yes, I am feeding you, now come on." He says, nothing about his tone suggests that he is a bit irritated. Finally, I open my mouth, the taste of the soup floods my taste buds, it tastes amazing. He is a good chef. I think to myself. After I finish the soup, I feel much better, and I feel like I can talk again. Kylo stands up to put the bowl away, but he winces with pain.

I manage to find my voice again as I say "I need to change your dressings."

He turns around suddenly, as if surprised to hear my voice.

"I'm fine." He grumbles.

"No you are not." I say back, I seem to have gained some of my strength back as well.

"I told you," His tone a little harsher this time "I am fine." I can see his stubborn side kick in as he finishes the sentence.

"Fine," I say in an irritated tone, "But you need to sit down." I pat the spot beside me on the bed, motioning him to sit beside me.

He seems taken aback by this request, he puts the bowl down on my bedside table, and sits down next to me, leaving a little bit of space between us. I wish he would sit closer to me, I find myself thinking. I lift my blanket up, so that we can sit under it. Sometime passes in silence, I focus my thoughts on his breathing, they are ragged because of his wounds. I feel a small pang in my stomach, I have to help him. The need to help him slowly builds up inside of me until I cannot bare it anymore. I get out of bed, and without a word I leave the room. I go to the bathroom and take out the first aid kit, and take it with me to my room. I walk in and see him starring at me with wide eyes.

"Your turn." I say with a smile as I sit in front of him on the bed.

He let's out a long sigh but does not say anything.

"Kylo, I need to change your dressings." I finish, I noticed that he flinched a bit when I say his name.

"Don't call me that." He says, but he does not look into my eyes as he has always done, he looks at his hands which are shaking ever so slightly.

"Then what do you want me to call you?" I ask, I have only ever known him by this name.

A moment of silence passes as Kylo thinks about it, then he finally says "Ben, call me Ben."

"Ben." I say, I like that name a lot, it suits him. I shake my head, I need to focus. "Alright, you need to take off your shirt." I say with a small smile.

He gives a small sigh, and then he smiles, my heart skips a beat, this is defiantly not the monster I knew, he has changed so much. Ben removes his shirt, and I get to work immediately. When I am done, I give him a small smile, as I stand up and walk out of the room to put the kit away. I come back, and I see that Ben is waiting for me, he pulls the covers aside, and motions me to sit next to him. When I finally sit down, I move a little closer to him, I feel tiered, and so I close my eyes. I feel my head slowly move until it rests on his chest. I fall asleep to the sound of his heart beating very fast.
