The Confession

- Rey's view -

I wake up to a loud sound, it sounded like a door being slammed shut, where did that come from? I get up, and out of the bed and head towards the kitchen. It has been so long since I have talked to Finn, I think I might go and see him while Ben is still asleep. I grab a piece of paper and scribble a note to Ben.

Ben,

I'm going over to visit Finn for a bit, I will be back soon. I love you.

- Rey

I head out of the door, I stop at my apartment just to change my clothes and fix my hair. My hair is still in the same style, three buns, one on top of the next. It has always been like this ever since I can remember, it is the only thing I have from my parents, and so I will never change it. I step into the elevator, and then get off on Finn's floor. I walk down the hallways, turning ever so often until I finally reach his door. I knock, no answer, I knock again, this time I hear footsteps on the other side, and the slow turn of a lock. He actually locks his door... The door opens just enough for me to see a part of Finn's face.

"Hey Finn." I say, why doesn't he open the door like he usually does?

"Oh, it's you." He responds through the crack. What is that supposed to mean?

"Can I come in?" I ask

Finn opens the door and gestures for me to come in, I walk around in his apartment, it looks different from mine, I can see more of the forest, whereas Finn can see the control towers and the launching pad.

"How have you been?" I ask him, something is not right here, Finn is never this closed off or sad, I wonder what is troubling him.

"I'm ok, um, I guess" He says as he scratches the back of his head. Something is defiantly bothering him.

"Something is wrong? What is it?" I ask him, sitting down on his couch. Finn also sits down, but he leaves a lot of space between us.

"Umm, I saw something weird thats all." He replies, he never looks me in the eye, have I done something wrong?

"You know you can tell me anything right? We never keep secrets from each other remember?" I tell him.

"Yeh, seems so." He replies, his tone a bit bitter.

"What is that supposed to me." I ask back. I haven't kept anything fro him, well nothing except for Ben.

"Is there something that you would like to tell me first?" Finn replies after a while, he finally looks into my eyes after this. Should I tell him? He is my best friend after all, he might understand.

"No..." I say, it hurts to lie to him, but I cannot expose my secret, not yet, I'm not ready.

"Fine, I will tell you what I saw Rey. And then maybe, you will like to explain everything to me after. I went to find you today, and I checked your apartment, but you were not there, so I went to check his apartment, and what do I see? I see you cuddled up to that monster! I SEE YOU CUDDLING UP TO A MURDERING COWARD, WHO KILLED EVERYONE WE LOVED, AND YOU GO AND SLEEP WITH HIM? IS THAT RIGHT REY?" He practically spits out the last words, my heart is beating rapidly in my chest, I am at a lost for words. Is that how he really sees him? He doesn't know the Ben that I know...

"He has changed Finn." I tell him "He is different, he is ashamed, he cannot sleep at night because of the guilt that he feels." I then tell Finn about everything that happened while he was away, I told him about how I found Ben, about how he helped me the day I was sick, about how much he cared for me. I tell him about how much I care for him, and then silence...

"Rey, I don't know what to say." Finn starts. "I cannot believe it."

"I can prove it to you, come on!" I tell him and grab his hands, he is reluctant at first, but then he gets up and follows me out of the door.

We wait for the elevator in silence, we wait in the elevator in silence, we walk to Ben's apartment in silence. "You have to promise me that you will try to understand, that you will try to have an open mind." I tell him

"Rey..." Finn starts

"Promise me." I interrupt him, I need these two to like each other. I stare into Finn's eyes with a big pout until he finally sighed and agreed.

I grab the handle and open the door, and we both walk in.

"Hey Rey! I made breakfast for the...." Ben starts to say in a happy tone but then stops as he sees Finn. He immediately straightens up, and lets his smile drop into a dull face. "YOU BRUGHT THE TRAITOR?" He yells.

"Ben, you don't have to act, he knows." I tell him.

"Oh, sorry Finn, I didn't mean to be rude, come in." He says, Ben is back.

I turn around and look at Finn, he raises one eyebrow, as to question the authenticity of this encounter, but I smile at him, indicating that everything is alright.

We walk into the kitchen, and we all eat breakfast, the atmosphere is tense, and very awkward, however, towards the end, everything seemed to be getting better.

"Is is true?" Finn says, breaking the deadly silence.

"Is what true?" Ben says back, his tone calm.

"What Rey told me, about how she found you in the forest, and took care of you."

"Yes, it is all true. She really helped me, she changed me." Ben says as he smiles, he then glances at me, I smile at him, this sounds good.

"What do you mean she changed you?" Finn asks, he sounds so concerned, he sounds like a dad.

"She helped me become a better person, she helped me return to the light, and I can never repay her for that." Ben says, on his face, I see a hint of sadness, he must be thinking about everything that he has done before the crash.

"You seemed to have changed from the last time we met." Finn says, smiling.

Ben lifts his head and looks straight at Finn, this is the first time that they have look each other in the eye.

"Thank you." Ben says, he smiles, it is genuine, it is beautiful. This is going well.

"Rey, I'm sorry I ever doubted you." Finn says.

"I'm sorry I wasn't honest with you. But you do understand why I did it, don't you?" I say back.

"Of course."

At this moment, I realize that there are so many people in the universe that love me, and two of them, are sitting right in front of me, and I love them for that.
