AN: Mr. Douglas is in fact Jim Morrison from The Doors. I don't really listen to music from this generation right now so that's why this is happening. But anyway, Jim's a babe. I can't help my love for him.

"Saw you and that new kid at Pete's party on Saturday... You giving up on me?" I tense at a familiar voice, closing my eyes promptly. He hasn't talked to me since She came around... since we got caught...

"I don't know what you're talking about." I say quietly. Shutting my locker, I turn from the longer haired man and begin walking away.

"B, I miss you." This stops me dead in my tracks. I shake my head, tears forming at the corners of my eyes.

"Don't lie to me, James." I start walking again, the time a bit faster. But the man's strong hand grabs my upper arm, rendering me immobile.

"Will you please talk to me at least? Let me explain myself?" I turn slowly to look into the man's blue grey eyes. "Please Brendon." I sigh and nod once, following my former tutor into the bathroom.

"You're at the school a lot less." I mutter crossing my arms.

"I had to distance myself from the high school scene." Because of me, of course...

"But you'll show up at Pete's party." I growl, rolling my eyes. That's so like him. Wouldn't pass up a party for anything. Not even me.

"Thought you didn't go to parties?"

"I don't. Eden wanted me to go."

"You never went to a party for me."

"That's because we couldn't be seen together. Not after what happened." I stare up at the curly headed man, challenging him. James Douglas was many things, but brave wasn't one of them.

"Listen Bren, I want another chance. I left Her. Missed you too much. I'll come out- we'll come out together. You're 18 now... and I'm not your teacher anymore. I need you Brendon." James hold onto my shoulders like I'll disappear otherwise. Who knows? I might.

I shake my head and look towards the open entrance to the bathroom. I barely catch a glimpse of brown hair. Probably some freshman realizing he walked in on something he shouldn't have. "I don't know James... you don't realize what you're asking me."

"I do, Bren. I know it's a lot. But I'm willing to wait. If time is what you need, so be it." My heart palpates in my chest. He's never given me a choice. Maybe...

I nod and let my hand cup his cheek, rugged facial structure under my palm. Standing on my toes, I give him a quick peck on the lips. "Thank you. That's exactly what I need."

James flashes his quirky smile and nods. "No problem, baby." I manage a smile in return and James pushes his unruly hair out of his eyes. "I gotta head out though. I have a meeting at 12. I just had to talk to you before... I'm glad you're considering me, Bren."

I nod. "I'm glad I am too." With a quick goodbye, a kiss on the cheek, and a phone number slipped into my back pocket, James leaves me to find my way to lunch on wobbly legs. I hate how that man effects me.

"Beeb!" Eden cries, waving at me from our lunch table. Ryan sits next to her, head hanging low for some reason. I fake a smile, my usual confidence temporarily out the window. I slide into the chair next to Ryan and unconsciously sling my arm over the back of his chair. "Bren, did you see that Mr. Douglas is back for a day."

"I did." I say emptily. Eden doesn't even know about James. Not a soul other than the one god forsaken woman knows.

"God he's such a hottie. I'd tap that. Now that we're all legal."

"Who's Mr. Douglas?" Ryan asks quietly, eyes still focused on the table.

"This super hot English tutor that B totally had the hots for when he taught here. I mean not that everyone didn't love him. He transferred for some reason though..." Eden so kindly explains. Her lips, dark purple today, turn up into a sly smile. "Rumor has it, he was sleeping with a student. But no one actually believes it."

"Is he really all that hot?" Ryan whispers, rolling his eyes. I frown at him but he doesn't notice.

"No dude, he is. I'd go gay for him." Josh answers and the rest of the table agrees.

"He's got this gorgeous curly, brown hair... a facial structure to die for... and the cheek bones." Eden moans, eyes in a dreamy state.

"He has really beautiful eyes." I say, nodding with Eden. She makes a sound of agreement as well as a slightly sexual groan that I chuckle and roll my eyes at.

Ryan gives me this look, like he knows something I don't, and then he pushes up from his seat abruptly. "Well you guys seem to be completely in love with his existence." The boy growls, storming away from the table.

"Well what the hell is his problem?" Eden asks, brows furrowing. But I can't take my eyes off the boy walking away from me.

Then it all goes wrong.

And I realize what's happening before it's too late.

James strides past Ryan, his swaying in his usual manor. James smirks at him and Ryan turns to watch the older man walk away, a scowl in his face.

He knows.

Oh god, he knows.

He was the freshman.

James makes his way to our table, Ryan still watching angrily. As James approaches, he places a intimate hand in between my shoulder blade. "Hey guys." His deep voice says and the whole table greets him. "You'll have to introduce me to your friend, Brendon." James says, a little to close to me.

Ryan shakes his head, eyes glassy with tears.

"It's good to see you Mr. Douglas." Eden says in the background. I can barely hear her with the blood ringing in my ears. "How's your fiancé?"

James rubs slow circles on my back. Some would see it as a maternal thing... But I don't. And neither does Ryan.

"Her and I had a falling out unfortunately, but I do have my eye on someone." Eden giggles at his reply, her girly tone showing to mercy to subtly.

"Well good luck with her."

"I think I'll get them." And that's the last I hear, before I'm following Ryan into the bathroom.
