"I've always known that there were people like you out there. I've been the laughingstock of this agency for years, but I knew it. You're gonna love my facility." Lester explained as he walked through the parking garage with Raven, Charles and I.

"That's gonna have to wait." I said, turning around so I was walking backwards and facing him. "Moira and Charles just had a lovely conversation, isn't that right Charles?" I asked with a smirk.

"Yes it is." He responded, quickly catching me as I lost my footing. "You should probably stop walking backwards. It never ends well for you." He hooked his arm in mine so I wouldn't fall again and he continued talking. "Agent MacTaggert has a lead on Sebastian Shaw, and if we don't move now, apparently, we're gonna lose him."

"What?!" Lester shouted, causing an echo to erupt in the garage.

"Not only can Charles and Beth read minds, they can communicate with them as well." Raven explained.

"Some more than others." I mumbled and Charles nudged my shoulder.

"You'll get there in time." He said smiling.

Moira then pulled up next to us in her car and we all jumped in except Lester and Charles. "That is incredible! But... I-I cannot take you anywhere else without permission from upstairs." He explained.

Charles looked to him and then me. "Wanna see another magic trick?"

Lester shrugged. "Sure."

"Beth?" Charles said, smiling.

I nodded. "Get in the car." I said, waving my hand and watching a purple trail of energy go into his head.

"Good idea." He said, getting into the car.

Charles sat next to me and rubbed my thigh with his hand. "See? Not so hard." He said smiling and taking his hand into his lap. I heard Raven chuckle from next to me and I shoved her shoulder, giving her a look to shut up, but she just continued to chuckle.

We were now on a boat searching for Shaw's sub in the water. Didn't really help that it was dark and freezing.

"I've lost Shaw. I've lo-- I've lost Shaw. Th-There's something blocking me. This has never happened to me before. I think there's someone like me on that ship." Charles said wincing as the connection to the sub was cut off.

"Like you?" Moira asked curiously.

"Uh, I'm sorry, a telepath. This is incredible. I could actually feel her inside my head. I'm very sorry, but I don't think I'm gonna be much help to you tonight. you're on your own." He explained and I stood next to him.

"What about me? I could try to help.. I know that she blocked you, but our powers are somewhat different.." I offered, putting a hand on his that was holding onto the railing.

"I'm afraid no- Oh, my God"

I raised a brow and followed his eyesight. My eyes widened as I saw a tornado emit from someone's hands on Shaw's ship.

"Jesus.." Moira exclaimed before running off somewhere else on the ship.

"Get inside!" Lester shouted, grabbing my arm and pulling me with him.

"Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop!" Charles interrupted.

I pulled my arm back from Lester's grip and walked back over to Charles. "Are you alright?"

"There's someone in the water." Just as he said that, I could sense him too. "There!" He pointed and suddenly large waves of water surrounded the man in the water as he seemed to be dragged by the submarine. "Let go! You have to let it go! You got to help him. You got to put someone in the water to help him."

Before Charles could even finish the sentence, I dove into the water and began swimming towards the man. I heard him and Raven shouting my name but I didn't care, this was a fellow mutant and I wasn't going to let him suffer like I did. When I reached him and wrapped my arms around his waist, he fought of course, he didn't know who I was. I could be working for Shaw for all he knew... I closed my eyes and tried speaking to him in my mind.

"If you continue doing this, you'll drown and you will die. Come with me." I looked further into his mind and found out his name is Erik. "Erik... please."

He calmed down and allowed me to pull him to the surface, only to shove me off of him and glare at me.

I moved the hair out of my eyes and saw Charles watching carefully. "I'm Beth Everette."

"How did you get inside my mind? You and some other voice. You and another man, you were inside my head. How did you do that?" Erik asked frantically.

"You have your tricks, we have ours.." I said, spitting the water out that had gotten in when a wave rippled. "We're like you. Just please, calm your mind."

"I thought I was alone." He panted.

I shook my head and smiled. "You're not alone. You're never alone, Erik." We then swam back to the ship and Charles helped us out of the water. "This doofus here was the other person that was in your head." I said patting Erik's shoulder before walking off to get a towel.

"What were you thinking? What if you couldn't get into his mind? You know you're not fully trained yet. You know that you don't have full control over it!" Charles lectured me as we walked.

I whipped around and he flinched. "I did what you would do. Why are you lecturing me about doing something that you would have done anyways?" I asked, my eyes narrowed, before turning around and continuing on my way.

"Because you can barely-..." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I just didn't want you to get hurt." He said before walking past me and I stopped in my tracks.

I couldn't help but smile to myself. No one has cared if I was hurt or not in a long time...
